  • Responsibilities

    POSITION PURPOSE: Balance cash items; maintain all teller room logs and coordinate cash control for the branch. Ensures members questions are answered correctly and handles member complaints.  Conducts surprise audits and maintains cash control within policies and procedures.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:

    · People leader for assigned teller area.  

    · Maintains and balances cash vault.

    · Responsible for ordering and maintaining cash level for vault, CDM, ATM and teller drawers. Also maintains cash insurability limits.

    · Responsible for updating the Cash Management and ATM Report.

    · Disburse loan for MSR’s and Indirect Lending Staff.

    · Performs surprise audits of teller staff monthly.  Ensures night drop, open and closing, over and short, vault entry, key box, ATM & debit card, and coin counter logs are performed daily.

    · Ensures all checks are processed and scanned timely and accurately.

    · Responsible for contacting vendors for all technical and hardware issues within the Teller room. 

    · Delivers exceptional member service at all times. 

    · Assumes responsibility for the efficient, effective, and accurate performance.  

    · Performs routine member transactions, including but not limited to deposits, withdrawals, cash advances, loan and Visa payments, transfers, and check cashing. 

    · Represents the Credit Union in a courteous, professional manner, and ensures confidentiality at all times.

    · Processes cash advances, travelers’ checks, official checks, foreign currency, wires, money orders, money transfers and savings bonds.

    · Monitors deposit amounts and examines documents for proper endorsement and negotiability.  Detects and resolves discrepancies promptly.

    · Balances daily transactions and verifies cash totals.  Investigates and resolves out-of-balance conditions.

    · Presents and explains Essential services and products to members including but not limited to eligibility of membership, type of accounts, types of financing available, interest rates, special promotions, current dividend rates, branch locations, office hours and phone numbers. 

    · Order checks for members’ accounts. 

    · Fills out CTR and SARS reports as needed.

    · Responsible for making sure adequate supply of general merchandise is on hand. (postage stamps, travelers checks, ATM & debit cards, gift checks, and savings bonds)

    · Answers questions and solves problems for members by listening to problems, collecting data, securing answers and reporting results to the inquiring party.

    · Resolves complaints and problematic issues with regard to members and tellers.  Properly and timely notifies the Branch Manager when the problem can not be handled at the Teller level. 

    · Actively cross-sells Essential’s products and services.

    JOB DESCRIPTION

    · Ensures dual control practices are followed. 

    · Keeps Financial Resource Center Manager informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concerns. 

    · Ensures the work area is clean, secure and well maintained at all times. 

    · Keeps up to date on all policy changes and revisions. 

    · Attend robbery and security training annually.

    · Responsible for securing the drawer key and all teller box keys at all times. 

    · Responsible for maintaining written procedures for position. 

    · Ensures Regulatory procedures are followed in accordance with Federal and State Regulations and updated as necessary.

    · Ensures Bank Secrecy Act, Consumer Identification Policy, and OFAC policies are followed by all tellers.

    · Other projects as may be assigned.

    OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

    Proven leadership skills.

    Excellent communication skills.

    Solid organizational skills. 

    Self-directed and self-motivated.

    Minimum Requirements:

    High School Diploma or GED.

    2-5 years cash handling experience in a financial institution setting.

    Experience with counting and managing vault preferred.

    Professional, well-developed interpersonal skills necessary for servicing Credit Union members and projecting a positive image to members 

    Intermediate mathematical skills (calculations and concepts involving decimals, percentages, fractions, etc). 

    Use of critical judgment in day-to-day situations and problems within established guidelines.

    Lifting and carrying up to 35 lbs when moving cash drawers or coin bags.
