The person in the role of Test Engineer will design, develop and maintain the test control solutions for the power electronics, electric motors and battery modules of electric vehicles. They will lead in defining and documenting the equipment and interfaces necessary for executing each device test plan. The candidate shall be capable of translating requirements and potential failure modes into test cases. They will lead data handling and processing of raw measurements to aid rapid engineering assessment.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS

• Convert test requests and system requirements into test procedures and equipment setups.
• Maintain documentation of test equipment, fixture designs and test setups.
• Communicate, coordinate and consult with responsible engineers of hardware on test.
• Process and document data from tests in an easily managed format for engineering analysis.
• Execute bench testing including manual and automated testing.
• Manage own workload priorities, identify roadblocks and communicate to lead or group manager.

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• BS or higher degree in mechanical, electrical or software engineering.
• 5+ years experience in the development of LabVIEW based control systems in the automotive test environment.
• Expertise in serial communication protocols, particularly CAN, LIN, Ethernet and FlexRay.
• 5+ years experience with computer operated test setups, systems, equipment and drivers.
• Knowledge of laboratory practices, instrumentation and vehicle electrical systems.
• Knowledge of test equipment and fixture design practices to guide manufacturing and facility infrastructure.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively work across multiple functional teams.
