JOB PURPOSE

The Closures CAE engineer will be responsible for all aspects of performance and structural development of the side and rear closures systems for our vehicles. They will apply their knowledge of closures systems and CAE tools to lead design and development. The Closures CAE engineer will balance and optimize the system designs for both performance and efficiency. They will use simulation results to propose data driven solutions to challenging issues on an accelerated vehicle development timeline.

WHERE THIS ROLE FITS WITH THE TEAM

The Closures CAE engineer will be a key part of the Structures Engineering team. They will work closely with the Closures Development Engineers as a partner in the development of a closures system with unique and innovative features.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND GOALS

• Apply knowledge of structural CAE tools and closures systems development
• Lead the design development of innovative closures systems with unique features
• Use knowledge and experience to close the gap between CAE and hardware development
• Propose design solutions that are optimized for performance and efficiency
• Partner with Closures, Interiors, Studio Design, and Program Management
• Build and maintain Closures CAE models

QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor's Degree (or higher) in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
• 5+ years of closures CAE simulation experience in automotive industry
• Experience in structural optimization application to closures
• Demonstrated ability to identify issues; develop, propose, and implement countermeasures
• Skilled in Optistruct, HyperWorks Suite, and ANSA
• Highly skilled in developing Closures CAE models using HyperMesh & ANSA
• Experience with setting structural targets in the closures domain is a plus
