Job Description
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you’ll have substantial control over the effectiveness of the overall technical solution developed for primary and secondary flight control actuation systems. This includes, but not limited to, system design for performance and fault tolerance, interfaces, and control algorithms.
Senior Systems Engineers work on:
Defining and management of flight control actuation system requirements,
Building physics-based models of flight control actuation systems system,
Determining use cases and stakeholders over the entire product lifecycle,
Decomposing requirements to other design functions and managing overall compliance and verification coverage, and
Achieving customer and internal objectives while balancing cost, schedule, and risk considerations
Lead functional analysis, detailed trade studies, requirements decomposition and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into compliant and producible product specifications
Create system level models, design tools, and simulations necessary to support customer trades during early business development efforts and effectively derive design requirements to guide the cross-functional project team
Be responsible for the identification and definition of all verification and validation approaches for the system
Create concise reports and proposal write-ups that describe design decisions, test and analysis results, and anomaly investigations
BS or MS Degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Aerospace, Computer or Systems Engineering, or related field, from an accredited university
10 years of progressive experience in the field of System Engineering or a related field
Demonstrated experience with requirements management, verification and validation methods, control system design, integration and test
Project Engineering leadership skills
Excellent verbal and written skills required
Team player with excellent communication and people skills
Ability to obtain a government security clearance and access to Special Programs
Travel Requirements: Travel to other sites, customer sites is required – 10-25%
Preferred qualifications include:
Experience working with safety critical systems (including hardware and software)
Experience with hydro-mechanical and/or electro-mechanical actuation technologies
Experience with control of Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSM) using Space Vector Modulation (SVM)
Familiarity with Reference Frame Theory and Field Oriented Control of electric motors
Familiarity with control system design and aircraft flight control systems
Experience in Matlab / Simulink / Stateflow tools as a mechanism for driving requirements development
Proficiencies in Model-Based System Engineering as a framework for system architecture development
Core competencies in flight control systems, hydraulic /mechanical actuation technologies, modeling
Demonstrated experience working with the development of flight control actuation systems
