    Framatome is seeking an Electrical Engineer for our Mill Ridge Road office in Lynchburg, Virginia. Join a product development group developing advanced and custom remotely controlled, robotic manipulators and controllers for our nuclear utility customers to perform non-destructive examinations of components within the power plant. Integrate into a multi-discipline team of engineers including mechanical, electrical, and software engineers. Activities range from new products to modification and maintenance of existing systems.

     

    The candidate will be self-motivated with the ability to work independently and thrive in an environment that is fast paced and very much "hands on", develop hardware solutions in a variety of fields to meet the needs of remotely operated robotic tooling required in the nuclear industry, and demonstrate adaptability to different development tools as introduced. 

     

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

    • Development of hardware technical requirements.
    • Design of hardware for custom control systems.
    • Specify/incorporate various motors, sensors, and feedback devices for remotely operated manipulators.
    • Design of controls enclosures and cable assemblies using 2D/3D CAD.
    • Detailed documentation (assembly and detailed drawing packages, wiring diagrams, and operating instructions.
    • Support controls maintenance in the form of reliability improvements and upgrades.
    • Identify new applications and opportunities to improve existing processes and equipment.
    • Support products at customer sites, when required.

     

     

    TRAVEL: Occasional/sporadic

    Required Skills Required Experience

    ALL CANDIDATES MUST MEET THE FOLLOWING MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO BE CONSIDERED FOR THIS OPPORTUNITY:

    • BS in Electrical Eng’g/Eng’g Tech. plus a minimum of 3 years of engineering experience. An advanced degree may be substituted for related exp. (MS 1-2 yrs. or PhD 1-3 yrs.). In applicable states a PE license will be accepted in lieu of a 4 yr engineering degree

     

     

    THE FOLLOWING MAY BE USED TO DIFFERENTIATE CANDIDATES WHO APPLY FOR THIS POSITION:

    • Strong technical problem-solving abilities.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
    • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills.
    • Experience in control system design.
    • Experience in analog and digital controls.
    • Electronic circuit design (analog and digital) utilizing ORCAD schematic capture (or similar).
    • Experienced in troubleshooting hardware issues from system level to board level to component level.
    • Motion control experience.
    • System troubleshooting / field experience.
    • FPGA / VHDL programming experience.
    • Desire to progress to a engineering supervisory role.
    • Previous engineering supervisory experience and/or an interest in progressing into an engineering supervisory role in the future.

     

     

    OUR TOTAL REWARDS PACKAGE

    The range of base salary for the position is between $79,000 - $107,000, and may also include annual incentives, performance bonuses and benefits. Please note that the base salary range is a guideline, and individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies and work location.
