    POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Meat & Seafood Manager is responsible for modeling Earth Fare’s Vision, Mission, Declaration and Customer Service Creed, while training and developing team members within their department. They work closely with the Meat & Seafood Manager to ensure profitability and positive results of the department. This person ensures team members adhere to the departments Standard Operating Procedures, proper production, display, excellent customer service, and a clean and safe work environment.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    1. Staff Development: Communicates the Earth Fare vision, standard operating procedures, merchandising guidelines, and financial goals to Team Members, with strong emphasis on customer service, safety and sanitation. Assists in the interview, selection, training, and support of team members with the goal of developing new leaders in the Meat & Seafood Department. Maintains a positive and professional work environment. Supports Meat & Seafood Manager in daily operations of department. (20%)
    2. Production: Supervises and participates in the production of in-house meat cutting with knowledge of meat and seafood varieties and cuts. Maintains proper presentation and display of quality meat and seafood items. Ensures high standards of quality control. (20%)
    3. Operational Tasks: Supports Meat & Seafood Manager with ordering and receiving deliveries; scheduling; checking daily and weekly sales/movement reports, shrink reports, emails and responding accordingly; conducting monthly department inventory. (25%)
    4. Merchandising: Develops and maintains attractive fresh meat and seafood cases by implementing Earth Fare merchandising guidelines. (25%)
    5. Department Conditions: Establishes cleanliness, sanitation, and overall organization of the department including all fixtures, storage, work stations, freezers, and coolers. (10%) Total Percentage Equals 100%

     

    Required Skills

    **MUST HAVE A THOROUGH UNDERSTANDING OF MEAT CUTS AND COOKING TECHNIQUES WITH AN UNDERSTANDING OF CUTTING MEAT INTO SUB-PRIMAL CATEGORIES. ADDITIONALLY, MUST BE SKILLED IN CUTTING WHOLE CHICKEN INTO STANDARD PARTS AND ADVANCED CUTS FOR OTHER MEATS.

    1. Strong communication skills with the ability to train, coach in the moment, and lead people in a positive and professional manner.

    2. Strong organization, time management, and multi-tasking skills.

    3. Proficient knowledge of meat and seafood varieties and cuts.

    4. Understanding of food safety, sanitation, and proper use of knives, saws and other equipment used in meat and seafood preparation.

    5. Willingness to work a flexible schedule to include nights, weekends, and holidays.

    6. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Excel and Outlook. Ability to learn and use a Falcon hand-held computer scanner.

    7. Desire to develop and grow your career with Earth Fare.

    8. Bilingual - English/Spanish a plus.

    Required Experience

    1. 1-2 years minimum experience as a meat cutter.
    2. 1-2 years’ experience working in a retail/customer service environment preferred.
    3. 1-2 years leadership experience preferred.
    4. Perishable experience and OSHA ServSafe Certification preferred.
    5. Earth Fare experience preferred.

    ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

    1. Works in a fast-paced environment with a focus on customer service.
    2. Will work in environments of extreme cold for extended periods of time (coolers & freezers).
    3. May travel periodically for meetings. Physical Demands
    4. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. (In the event an item weighs over 50 pounds the Team Member should have another member of the team help lift the item).
    5. Must be able to bend, reach, stoop, kneel and squat.
    6. Must be able to push, pull, and maneuver heavy loads.
    7. Must be able to stand and be on one’s feet the majority of the work day.
