    JOB TITLE:  Accounting Manager

    DEPARTMENT:  Accounting/ Finance

    REPORTS TO:  Controller

    POSITION SUMMARY:  The Accounting Manager will oversee the activities of the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of AP and AR and maintaining accurate records.  Position involves direct supervision of up to 15 A/P and A/R Associates.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Directly supervise team members in Accounting/Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable Department, to include enforcement of company policies and applicable laws, interviewing, hiring, planning, assigning and directing work flow, providing performance feedback, rewarding and coaching, addressing complaints and resolving problems
    • Ensure all existing accounts payables and receivables related internal controls are being followed, with regular testing and updating as necessary
    • Ensure all periodic accounts payable & account receivable deadlines (data entry, posting, filing, accruals, etc.) are met
    • Reconcile balance sheet accounts on a period-end close basis
    • Perform various period-end close expense analyses and accruals
    • Assist with the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements and periodic audits
    • Assist with accounting training and associated accounting set-up for new store locations
    • Document and perform internal control validating testing for other accounting functions within the organization.
    • Ensure that all documentation complies with company's regulations and professional generally accepted accounting standards.
    • Respond to Controller, VP of Finance, and/or CFO as assigned with accurate and timely work to facilitate financial reporting needs.
    • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports.
    • Communicate with co-workers, management, vendors, customers, and others in a customer service oriented and professional manner.
    • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions. and performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    KNOWLEDGE/ EXPERIENCE AND CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE

    1. Bachelor’s degree (4 yr degree) with major or concentration in Accounting
    2. 4+ years of corporate accounting, financial reporting, and supervisory experience required
    3. 4 + years of experience in an automated EDI accounting environment required
    4. Must have a successful history of experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, sales tax, business licenses, and financial reporting.
    5. Candidate must be capable of a high level of problem solving with the ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner and gather and analyze information skillfully.
    6. Ability to be work efficiently, prioritize and plan work activities for self and direct reports required.
    7. Ability to demonstrate a high level of quality control by monitoring the work of self and others to ensure accuracy and timely feedback required.
    8. Must be able to successfully meet high productivity standards.
    9. Must be self-motivated, work under limited supervision and with a strong work ethic.
    10. Ability to manage others in a collaborative and inclusive way for purposes of planning, decision making, and process improvement.
    11. Must demonstrate a high level of communication skills, both verbally and written.
    12. Required software knowledge: Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Access, Outlook

    Preferred software knowledge: Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains Accounting Software, FRx Reports, Crystal Reports, SCL Server
