    Stamford Health is seeking a PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE. The PATIENT ACCESS REP (BED CONTROL) co-ordinates with nursing management the scheduling and placement of patients into inpatient nursing units, the hospital information admission, discharge and transfer [ADT] systems, and all other related responsibilities pertinent to the scheduling office. This individual is responsible for the timely and accurate compilation of patient socio-demographic and financial/insurance data either prior to or at time of service.  The PATIENT ACCESS REPRESENTATIVE facilitates patient access into the health system and serves as an advocate of patients’ rights for health care issues and insurance coverage. THIS IS A FULL-TIME POSITION 7:00AM-3:00PM (37.5HRS/WEEK) ROTATING WEEKENDS AND HOLIDAYS. 

    Required Skills Required Experience

    *TWO YEARS OF COLLEGE OR 2 YEARS PRIOR EQUIVALENT EXPERIENCE IN A HEALTH CARE SETTING. 

    *COMPUTER KNOWLEDGE AND MINIMUM TYPING REQUIREMENTS OF 35 -40 WPM. 

    *GENERAL KNOWLEDGE OF HEALTH INSURANCE AND BUSINESS EXPERIENCE. KNOWLEDGE OF CLINICAL TERMS HELPFUL. 

    *MUST HAVE EXCELLENT INTERPERSONAL SKILLS, COMMUNICATION SKILLS AND ABILITY TO WORK WITH PATIENTS, THEIR FAMILY, AND THE PUBLIC.

  • Qualifications
    • Exceptional computer and other technology skills required to be demonstrated prior to employment and be willing to learn new software programs.
    • Proven organizational skills and project management experience.
    • Ability to plan and develop training material.
    • Must be well groomed and pleasant with the public.
    • Must be able to work in a variety of environments including outdoors.
    • Must have valid driver’s license, reliable transportation and proof of insurance.
