    Summary: 

    As the manager of the CDC Transportation Department, you will be responsible for managing all duties related to the Out Bound transportation department. The person in this position will be exposed to all elements that exist in a warehouse environment where the noise level is usually moderate.

     Physical Requirements: 

    The person in this position may occasionally lift and/or move up to 100lbs using manual and PIT Equipment.

     Essential Functions:

    • Manage the Brockton drivers along with routing and clerical staff assigned to the Brockton transportation department.
    • Work closely with the Cross Dock Managers in Lawrence, MA and Hartford, CT
    • Responsible to hire, train and develop direct reports
    • Stay updated and ensure compliance with all DOT Regulations.
    • Schedule and assign work to employees, providing necessary materials, equipment and documents.
    • Responsible for all equipment, trucks and related preventative maintenance schedules with three vendors Miller, Penske and Ryder and assist remote branches with their vehicles/drivers
    • Monitor all scheduled daily deliveries and ensure customer time commitments are met.  Responsible for KPI’s on Photo Compliance, planned vs actuals, lost in shipments, missed deliveries, branch transfers and missed time commitments
    • Responsible to ensure all drivers make timely deliveries with no damage to the product.  Follow driver Methods training
    • Responsible for conducting annual certification of all driver on delivery methods and give binders to each driver.
    • Constant communication with drivers, warehouse staff, salespersons and customers.
    • Work with Shop Steward on Union contract issues.
    • Work with lease providers for various reports, i.e., mileage and VCR reports.
    • Schedule periodic meeting with drivers.
    • Monitor and review routing configurations for cost efficiency.  Level the dispatch and reduce under 8 hour runs
    • Safety methods training.  Space and visibility, Daily safety briefings, stationary object training and post-accident/injury evaluations.
    • Other projects/duties as assigned by Director of Transportation and VP of Operations.

    Required Skills

    • Ability to organize and multitask.
    • Product knowledge is desirable.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
    • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications
    • Strong knowledge of Fleet Maintenance.

    Required Experience

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred with emphasis on business management and/or equivalent knowledge through job related experience and training.
    • 3 to 5 years prior experience managing Union Drivers and solid knowledge of contractual bargaining agreement is required.
    • Understanding and experience with GPS tracking.
