    General Description

    East Hill Christian School is a not-for-profit, private, and accredited Christian school dedicated to providing quality education to students in the historic East Hill community of Pensacola, Florida. With a commitment to Christian values and academic excellence, EHCS serves as a nurturing environment for students to grow spiritually, intellectually, and socially. With the school experiencing significant growth, particularly in the Fine Arts program, this position will be instrumental in furthering the department's expansion. The Performing Arts Teacher will be responsible for planning and conducting engaging lessons, organizing performances, and collaborating with fellow educators to seamlessly integrate the arts into the broader curriculum.

    Job summary

    The Performing Arts Teacher at EHCS is expected to communicate effectively using a relational approach. Encourage students to take intellectual risks, express creativity, and demonstrate learning through innovative methods. The performing arts teacher will collaborate closely with the fine arts department to ensure a cohesive K-12 program that aligns with EHCS's educational objectives. This position contributes to the growing arts program at EHCS and provides students with opportunities to explore and showcase their talents in a supportive and spiritually enriching environment.

    The Performing Arts Teacher will report to the middle/high school principal, providing regular updates on curriculum development, student progress, and departmental needs. He or she will engage in open communication with school administrators, seeking guidance and sharing insights to enhance the overall educational experience. As a member of the faculty, the Performing Arts Teacher is expected to contribute actively to chapel services and other spiritual development activities. All faculty members are expected to embrace opportunities to integrate Christian values and principles into arts education, fostering a holistic approach to students' growth.

    Required Professional Qualities

    • Possess a minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Performing Arts, Drama, Music or a related content area.
    • Be certified or able to be certified through ACSI
    • Exhibit a strong faith and exemplary lifestyle
    • Ability to oversee and manage a growing program
    • Strong knowledge of Christian principles and a commitment to integrating them into the curriculum.
    • Experience in directing school plays or musicals is desirable.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
    • Must be able to establish and maintain effective professional relationships
    • Have experience using classroom technology, electronic resources, programs, and platforms
    • Have strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Must be able to accept direction and professional development

    Essential Job Functions

    • Design and implement a comprehensive performing arts curriculum that aligns with Christian values and educational standards.
    • Create engaging lesson plans that cater to students across various grade levels.
    • Provide instruction in drama, music, and dance, fostering a well-rounded performing arts education.
    • Encourage students to express themselves creatively while instilling Christian principles.
    • Direct and coordinate school plays, musicals, and other performances.
    • Organize rehearsals, set design, and technical aspects of productions.
    • Collaborate with colleagues in the arts department and across disciplines to integrate performing arts into broader educational initiatives.
    • Support cross-curricular projects and events within the school.
    • Infuse Christian values into performing arts education, emphasizing character development and ethical conduct.
    • Contribute to chapel activities and other spiritual development initiatives.
    • Engage with parents to communicate students' progress and upcoming performing arts events.
    • Participate in school-wide events, fostering a sense of community through the performing arts.
