We are seeking a talented and passionate Research and Development (R&D) Intern who aligns to our values and culture. The successful candidate will support ongoing company-wide R&D initiatives and help the department with a variety of duties. This position will serve as vital internal role within the R&D department, with occasional cross-departmental responsibilities into the Quality Assurance department. Job Summary: Our ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of research and development concepts. Duties may include, but are not limited to the following: - Support the development of teas through preparing benchtop samples for tastings - Maintain lab cleanliness and re-stock with ingredients as needed - Participate and assist in production trials; Conduct material analysis of new tea blends (bulk density, moisture, particle size) - Prepare and help organize samples for large-scale consumer testing - Participate in raw material sensory evaluations of teas and botanicals - Provide input for continuous improvement of R&D processes and production efficiencies - Arrange samples with R&D/QA for shelf life and quantitative testing as needed; Maintain accurate documentation of test results - Other duties as assigned Talent: - Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing - Take initiative, plan and execute tasks independently - Think critically - Effective problem solving - Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners - The ability to balance sound judgement with swift execution Skills and Knowledge: - Microsoft Office Suites; Excel and PowerPoint skills - Basic math calculations - Understanding of weights and measures Minimum Requirements: - Lab sciences coursework and/or previous lab experience preferred.
