We are seeking a talented and passionate graduate level Sustainability Intern who aligns to our values and culture. The successful candidate will support ongoing company-wide sustainability initiatives. Undergraduate applicants at the Junior or Senior level will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Our Sustainability Intern will manage one specific project at East West Tea Co for a duration of 10 weeks, (40 hours/week), related to sustainability which could include program design, data aggregation, data synthesis, report writing, or storytelling with the flexibility to start between May and June. Job Summary: Our ideal candidate will possess a working knowledge of sustainability concepts. The intern will be responsible for developing and presenting a scope of work, including a project overview and roadmap with key milestones. For the duration of the internship, this individual will engage with members of the global sustainability team as well as broader cross-functional teams to gather necessary information for successful completion of the project. At the conclusion of the 10-week period, the intern will provide a summary of key findings and recommendations relevant to their project. The intern will present these findings and recommendations to the leadership team and relevant cross-functional teams. Talent: - Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing - Take initiative, plan and execute tasks independently - Apply analytics to inform decision-making - Demonstrates problem solving ability - Collaborate effectively with internal and external partners - Ability to apply sound business principles and practices to project management and change management processes. - Passion for continuous growth and improvement Skills and Knowledge: - Microsoft Office Suites; Excel and PowerPoint skills - Report writing - Data analysis - Strategic thinking Minimum Requirements: - Ideal candidates will be pursuing a graduate degree in business, sustainability, food systems, or environmental science (MS, MBA, or equivalent) - Sustainability business collaboration experience, including through coursework Project Outline for Potential Project Work Carbon Insetting Strategy Development This year we will be receiving the results of our first comprehensive global carbon footprint assessment prior to the start of the internship. This internship project will utilize these results to evaluate opportunities for a long-term carbon strategy. Our carbon goals will include opportunities for carbon reduction and offsetting within our own supply chains with the aim of empowering and enriching the lives of those who grow our ingredients while mitigating long-term carbon impacts of our business. For this project, the intern will evaluate opportunities that are in line with this goal and provide a recommended strategy for achieving it. Alternative project options will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on relevant skills and experience of the applicant pool.
