    POSITION

    COMMUNITY RELATIONS ASSOCIATE – PT

    This is an 8 hour a week schedule, with the possibility of expanded hours as our community relations program grows.

    PURPOSE OF POSITION

    We are seeking a part-time Community Relations Associate dedicated to serving the needs of our neighbors and the greater Cedar Rapids community. This role will provide is a part-time role responsible for engaging community partners and participating in appropriate community events to grow organization recognition and share information on Eastern Iowa Health Center’s five lines of service. The Community Relations Associate must be professional, organized, display an attention to detail, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. As a vital member of the EIHC team, this role will recognize and promote the cultural diversity of the patients we serve and the people we work with.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    The following duties are normal for this position.  These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive.  Other duties may be required and assigned.

    • Collaborate with community partners, meeting face-to-face when able, to share accessibility to EIHC’s 5 lines of service.
    • Participate in promotional events, education events, health fairs, etc.
    • Organize and coordinate appropriate EIHC staff to attend community relations events, education events and other opportunities.
    • Attend internal and external events as a representative of Eastern Iowa Health Center.
    • Assist with the development of National Health Care Week events and other EIHC sponsored fundraising and recognition efforts.

    DEPENDABILITY

    • Maintain good attendance, punctual reporting to work, and efficient professional schedule.
    • Follow company call-in and absence request procedures when unable to report to work.
    • Demonstrate flexibility in workflow and practices with ability to prioritize effectively.
    • Ability to work in a fast paced, rapidly changing, and regulated environment.

    INITIATIVE & JUDGEMENT

    • Demonstrate exceptional time management and ability to work proactively and independently.
    • Demonstrate appropriate personal appearance and personal hygiene.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations and documentation appropriately and ethically.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Occasional evening and weekend availability required.
    • Ability to speak effectively before groups of community partners and representatives of outside organizations required.
    • Demonstrated cultural competence required.
    • Ability to lead professional presentations required.
    • One year of community involvement or three years customer service required.
    • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance required.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • AA degree in a related field preferred.
    • At least one year of experience in related field within the last three to five years preferred.
    • Excellent verbal communication preferred.

    • As a representative of EIHC, maintain a professional appearance with attention to grooming and hygiene.
    • Ability to seamlessly incorporate cultural competence in all interactions.
    • Detailed oriented with the ability to work with minimum/no supervision.
    • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written communication.
    • Willingness to be part of a team-unit and cooperate in the accomplishment of departmental and organizational goals and objectives.
