    Job Description

    Our Speech Language Pathologists offer support and services to children in the Octorara School District. This position is in the Junior/Senior High School. This will start out as a fulltime position at the High School and become parttime once all services are made up. The position will then be parttime at the high school and parttime at our Easterseals Delaware County Division. The Delaware County Division provides preschool programming for children aged 3-6 years old in an approved private school setting, developmental delay classrooms, and inclusion preschool in Media PA.

    The Speech and Language Therapist is responsible for the delivery of Speech and Language therapy services to students identified as needing the related service. Responsibilities include:

    • Organize and conduct speech and language screenings in coordination with the pre-referral team.
    • Consult with and provide interventions for students based on learning needs for staff.
    • Evaluate and identify students with speech and language disorders through the use of standardized assessment and observation.
    • Prescribe and implement speech and language therapy to eligible students.
    • Provide individual and/or group therapy for students with speech and language needs.
    • Provide consultative services to regular education teachers and/or special education teachers in order to give information on communicative skill development, special materials, interventions, and procedures to be used in working with students that have speech and language needs.
    • Coordinate services for speech and language only students by writing Evaluation Reports, IEP’s and compiling and assembling records.
    • Participate in IEP meetings and develop appropriate goals and objectives for students receiving speech and language services.
    • Participate actively in the re-evaluation process when necessary.
    • Maintain appropriate on-going progress monitoring data collection regarding student’s therapy.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Master’s Degree in Speech Language Pathology required.
    • Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech and Hearing Association required.
    • Pennsylvania Speech Language Pathologist License required; if CF, provisional PA license applies.
    • PDE certification required.
    • Qualified candidate will be required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls and to talk and hear. Sit and occasionally be required to stand, walk, stoop, kneel and crouch; Have specific vision abilities to include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus; Have the ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds; and possess effective communication, judgmental, planning and human relations skills, and will be required to work under periods of stress due to the level of the position responsibility.
