    Job Summary

    ESO is looking for a Director of Capital in the Community Fund to design the lending strategy and loan product development for black and brown entrepreneurs. Responsible for loan portfolio growth and performance, client retention, and people leadership, the Director will act as both an internal and external leader with a deep understanding of the market, sector and competitive trends. Internally, the Director will work alongside the Program team to build deep and authentic relationships with entrepreneurs. Externally, the Director of Capital in the Community Fund will build deep relationships with clients, prospects as well as strategic channel partners and other relevant players in the ecosystem.

    Responsibilities:

    • Leads loan portfolio strategy
    • Designs, develops or leads the development of loan products for ESO entrepreneurs
    • Responsible for the overall ESO fund strategy and performance
    • Manages entrepreneur retention strategy and payback
    • Builds relationships with the most strategic clients (entrepreneurs) in the loan portfolio
    • Identifies and manages key channel partnerships in the continuum of capital
    • Delivers market trends, insights into alternative lending platforms and competitive landscape, and articulates POV to inform decisions
    • Develops ongoing thesis on and metrics for access to capital in the Black and Brown entrepreneurial ecosystem
    • Find and manage strategic partnerships with a set of impact investors that are focused on improving outcomes for black and brown entrepreneurs across local, regional and national
    • Manages a team responsible for all aspects of loan execution and management of the loan portfolio
    • Develops and manages the investment committee
    • Refines the merit based credit system and modifies as needed
    • Works with the Finance lead to prepare the organization’s annual budgets, analyze the risk of its investments and advise the board of directors on the risk and return of the investments
    • Represent the organization at functions, public meetings, and industry events
    • Supports project management, partner relationships, and overall management and direction of the organization when necessary

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
    • 7+ years experience in credit/lending and banking product experience (product experience relevant to fund banking industry is preferred)
    • Ability to lead and direct others

     Competencies:

    • Deep knowledge of the loan, venture capital, and innovation ecosystem

    • Extensive people management experience

    • Strong relationship management skills and ability to develop authentic relationships with senior leaders in the ecosystem

    • Strong analytic and leadership skills

    • Capable of using both data and intuition to deliver results

    • Ability to prioritize tasks with highly effective time management

    • Ability to effectively manage resources to optimize process and outcomes

    • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to easily adapt to an audience

    • Ability to foster a strong team environment and ability to work seamlessly across multiple verticals in the organization

    • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel).
