    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:

    The Coordinator is responsible for emergency equipment repairs that may result from mechanical breakdowns or malfunctions of mobility devices such as wheelchairs, walkers and/or scooters.  This position reports to the Program manager for Transportation and Repair and works closely with the Repair technician.  The primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to meeting with people in their home and/or community-based locations to diagnose and/or repair their equipment to a safe location should an immediate community-based repair not be possible.  The Repair Technician also provides back-up Transportation services as needed.

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    1.                  Answer all calls and communicate with the dispatcher in a timely manner.

    2.                  Provide emergency diagnosis and repair of manual and power wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility devices.

    3.                  Meet with people in their homes or community-based settings.

    4.                  Utilize company owned vehicles and tools to provide services.

    5.                  Adhere to traffic, parking and other vehicle-use requirements.

    6.                  Adhere to acceptable use of policies to determine need for and assess quality of potentially donated equipment.

    7.                  This position will pick-up, dismantle, salvage, drop-off recycle and/or dispose of wheelchairs or other assistive devices.

    8.                  Pick up and drop off loaner equipment to clients under the direction of Management.

    9.                  Lead, develop, maintain and coordinate tracking, control and maintain inventory, maintain systems and a well-organized clean and safe work/storage areas.

    10.              Ensure safety plans and procedures are consistently followed and report accidents as they occur.

    11.              Order parts and equipment as needed.

    12.              Accurate complete and submit all documentation timely and reporting of all activities and services provided.

    13.              Oversee and maintain loaner library.

    14.              Provide back-up Personal Care Assistance as needed.

    15.              Train other Repair Techs, volunteers and coordinate projects, etc.

    16.              Adhere to mandatory scent free-work environment. 

    17.              Assisting clients in and out of the vehicle and safely transporting clients to local safe destinations as necessary.

    18.              Attend orientation, training, and monthly staff meetings.

    19.              Interface with clients in a professional manner to complete repairs.

    20.              Enter information into SalesForce database regularly.

    21.              Maintain Current CPR / First Aid Certification.

    22.              Interface with people with all types of disabilities daily. 

    23.              Other duties as assigned.

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

     

    1.                  A minimum of 6 months experience providing personal assistance services to people with disabilities and/or seniors.

    2.                  Ability to physically assist clients, maneuver equipment.

    3.                  Ability to demonstrate skill/comfort using basic hand tools.

    4.                  Demonstrated Ability and Comfort driving a large van. 

    5.                  Current California driver’s license and clean DMV driving record

    6.                  Current or obtain within 30 days of start date CPR / First Aid Certification

    7.                  Ability to safely assist individuals in and out of transportation vehicle

    8.                  Ability to travel to all areas of Central and North Alameda County on short-notice, on-call basis in company vehicle.

    9.                  Ability and willingness to communicate and take direction from management and administration staff

    10.              Ability to follow oral and written instructions, problem solve, and work through stressful situations

    11.              Willingness to work with diverse populations with varying needs

    12.              Basic computer skills.

    13.              Ability to use cellphone and tablet.
