Pay Rate: $17.00 - $20:00
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position reports to the Program Manager and follows the instructions of the Dispatcher. The Personal Care Attendant is the direct service professional that responds to consumer requests for support and assistance and attends to an individual’s personal care needs. Personal care includes assistance that supports and maintains the client’s health, safety, and independence and mitigates their need to engage emergency services (e.g., fire, ambulance, ER, nursing, or other institutional care). Responsibilities include completing a range of tasks including, but not limited to, non-medical personal care, errands, and household/domestic work.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Respond to urgent and emergent requests for service within 30-45 minutes of dispatch.
- Transfer assistance 100lbs and postural repositioning to/from bed, wheelchairs, other vehicles, from floor to wheelchair, etc., excluding the use of mechanical lifting equipment when trained and documented as competent.
- Assist clients with walking, including the use of walkers and wheelchairs.
- Assistance with personal hygiene, including shower, tub, or bed baths; assistance in shower, oral care, hair, and skin care; use of toilet facilities, including bed pans and menstrual care; dressing.
- Cooking basic meals, feeding, and assistance with self-administration of medications.
- Household chores include but are not limited to bed linens and urgent light laundry changes.
- Providing food, water, and urgent cleanup for animals; walking dog(s)
- Grocery shopping for diabetic food, Errands, washing dishes when there are no clean ones.
- Use Personal Protective Equipment and standard universal precautions at all times and whenever providing services to protect clients and staff.
- Follow directions of Dispatcher(s) regarding parking, access considerations, unique instructions for entry into client home/building, mandated reporting procedures, and other relevant information needed for the safety of clients and workers, and to provide effective, responsive, quality service.
- Accurately document and submit in a timely manner all work related records including but not limited to:
- client service eligibility and requests
- work assigned and/or services performed
- check-in/out times, timesheets, service agreements, complaints, refusals, charges and payments received, expenses, inventory, health status, and other pertinent service information in a timely manner.
- Provide coverage for “meal and rest breaks” for staff as assigned by Dispatcher during shift(s).
- When providing dispatch coverage, answers all incoming calls in a timely, welcoming and professional manner, accurately and efficiently assess and prioritize response to callers.
- Accurately represent and state Easy Does It policies to all potential and current clients and community members.
- Record and report changes in the client’s physical condition, behavior or appearance to supervisor or Case Manager and APS.
- Maintain client confidentiality.
- Maintain personal boundaries
- Use EDI supplied communication devices for all agency related work.
- Work with others to resolve conflicts and provide support to clients and on-call workers,
- Identify, report and recommend and/or initiate service and/or process improvements to help scale operations.
- Report regularly on customer feedback to help drive product and process improvements.
- Participate in staff meetings, training and other meetings.
- Other duties as assigned.
