    Job Description

    POSITION SUMMARY:  

    The Repair Technician / Driver and is responsible for emergency equipment repairs that may result from mechanical breakdowns or malfunctions of mobility devices such as wheelchairs, walkers and/or scooters. This position reports to the Program Manager for Transportation and Repair and works closely with the Repair Shop Coordinator. The primary responsibilities of the Repair Technician / Driver include, but are not limited to meeting with people in their home and/or community-based locations to diagnose and/or repair mobility equipment as needed. Provide transportation for the person and/or their equipment to a safe location should an immediate community-based repair not be possible. The Repair Technician / Driver also provides back-up Transportation and Attendant services as needed.   

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

    ·         Answer all calls and communicate with dispatchers in a timely manner.

    • Provide emergency diagnosis and repair of manual and power wheelchairs, scooters, and other mobility devices.

     

    ·         Meet people in their home or community-based settings.

    • Utilize company owned vehicles and tools to provide services. 
    • Adhere to traffic, parking and other vehicle-use requirements.

    ·         Adhere to acceptable use policies to determine need for and assess quality of potentially donated equipment.

    • This position will pick-up, dismantle, salvage, drop-off recycle and/or dispose of wheelchairs or other assistive devices. 

    • Pick up and drop off loaner equipment to clients under the direction of Management.

    • Assist in tracking, controlling and maintaining inventory, maintaining well-organized, clean and safe work/storage areas. 

    • Ensure safety plans and procedures are consistently followed and report accidents as they occur. 

    • Order parts and equipment as needed. 

    • Accurate documentation and timely reporting of all activities and services provided are a must.

    • Professional communication and interactions with people served, community members and co-workers as needed to assure client and agency needs are met. 

    • Attend orientation, training, and staff meetings.

    • Complete all mandated reporting.

    • May be required to provide backup transportation services as requested/assigned;

      • Provide “door-through-door” assistance
        • Pick up and drop off client at assigned locations
        • Safely load, secure and comfortably transport clients, their assistive device, including groceries, etc. to their destinations
        • Follow all company policies and rules of the road
    • May be asked to assist attendant services as requested/assigned;

    1.      Lifting, positioning and transferring in and out of bed, wheelchairs, etc. (over 100 pounds)

    2.      Assistance with bathing, showering, dressing, and grooming 

    3.      Assistance with toileting

    4.      Meal preparation, feeding and clean up

    5.      Urgently needed laundry, cleaning, and other domestic duties

    6.      Urgently needed shopping and errands.

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    ·         Adhere to agency fragrance free workplace whenever conducting Easy Does It business. 

    ·         A minimum of 6 months of experience providing personal assistance services to people with disabilities and/or seniors.

    ·         Demonstrated ability and comfort driving a large van. 

    ·         Ability to safely physically maneuver equipment and people; push, pull, lift and carry 100 lbs. or more.

    ·         Demonstrated fine and gross motor ability, skill and comfort using hand and power tools; 

    ·         Current California driver’s license and clean DMV driving record.

    ·         Current or obtain within 30 days of start date CPR / First Aid Certification

    ·         Ability to pass a DOJ criminal background check.

    ·         Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination(s).

    ·         Ability to travel to all areas of Central and North Alameda County on short-notice, on-call basis in company vehicle.

    ·         Ability and willingness to communicate and take direction from management and administration staff in order to meet client or agency requests.

    ·         Ability to follow oral and written instructions, problem solve, and work through stressful situations.

    ·         Willingness to work with diverse populations with varying needs

    ·         Basic computer skills.

    ·         Ability to use cellphone, tablet and computer.
