MORTGAGE UNDERWRITER

Job Description

                The Underwriter evaluates information obtained for a mortgage loan application, reviews appropriate documentation, and decides whether credit can be extended based on specific qualification guidelines. The Underwriter analyzes a variety of financial data and documents in order to establish well-evidenced and reasonable calculations of income and assets. Due to the loan decision depending on the Underwriter’s work, a high level of precision and attention to detail are major necessities for potential candidates. In addition to this, as industry standards and compliance requirements are constantly being updated, the Underwriter must be motivated to study up on and learn any new policies and procedures required of them.

Job Requirements

                Minimum 2 years’ underwriting experience

                Knowledge of general industry guidelines and standards

Ability to manage at least 5 files simultaneously

                Accustomed to working with both physical and digital files

                Adequate skills with computers and typical office hardware

Preferred Requirements

                Qualified DE Underwriter

                Ability to manage at least 15 files simultaneously

                Advanced knowledge of Conventional and FHA underwriting procedures
