SOSi is seeking a highly qualified Editor in Chief to serve as the single managing editor in support of strategic communications and information operations. The Editor in Chief will lead and integrate editorial and creative efforts to produce authoritative, mission-aligned content that supports senior leader engagements, operational messaging, and global dissemination.
This role is responsible for ensuring all published content meets the highest standards of journalistic integrity, accuracy, and quality while aligning with U.S. Government communication objectives, editorial intent, and operational priorities. The ideal candidate brings deep editorial leadership experience, strong judgment in high-visibility environments, and familiarity with DoD or interagency communication frameworks.
Essential Job Duties:
- Provide oversight and leadership to editorial and creative staff across multiple publications.
- Ensure journalistic standards are upheld in accordance with industry best practices for content development and publishing.
- Guarantee all content contains factual information and supports the editorial intent of Government publications.
- Manage the development and publishing of commercial-quality content across various platforms.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to ensure editorial guidelines are met and content aligns with organizational objectives.
Expanded / customer-aligned responsibilities:
- Lead editorial planning and execution supporting strategic communications, information operations (IO), and influence activities.
- Translate complex operational, intelligence, and policy information into clear, accurate, and compelling written products for senior leaders and diverse global audiences.
- Establish and enforce editorial standards, style guides, and quality control processes across all publications and dissemination channels.
- Oversee multi-platform publishing (print, digital, web, and multimedia), ensuring consistency across classified and unclassified environments as applicable.
- Coordinate closely with planners, analysts, public affairs, and communication strategists to ensure content aligns with campaign objectives and operational messaging.
- Ensure all content complies with DoD public affairs guidance, OPSEC, classification review, and release authorities prior to dissemination.
- Manage rapid-turn editorial production cycles in support of time-sensitive senior leader engagements and operational requirements.
