The Learning Experience – Hell's Kitchen is seeking an experienced and passionate Education Director to lead the academic excellence of our school. This leadership role is ideal for an accomplished early childhood educator who thrives on coaching teachers, maintaining high instructional standards, and ensuring every child receives an engaging, developmentally appropriate learning experience.
As Education Director, you will serve as the instructional leader of the school, partnering with the Center Director to support curriculum implementation, teacher development, classroom quality, and compliance with all New York City and New York State early childhood education regulations.
Key Responsibilities
Educational Leadership
Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of The Learning Experience's proprietary L.E.A.P. Curriculum
Conduct regular classroom observations and provide meaningful coaching and feedback to teaching staff
Mentor and develop Lead Teachers, Assistant Teachers, and support staff through ongoing professional development
Ensure classrooms provide engaging, age-appropriate, and developmentally sound learning experiences
Monitor child assessments and support teachers in documenting developmental progress
Compliance & Quality
Maintain compliance with all New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) regulations, as applicable
Ensure all educational practices meet licensing requirements and accreditation standards
Support onboarding, training, and professional development for new educators
Maintain accurate staff training records and educational documentation
Family & School Partnership
Build strong relationships with families by supporting conferences, classroom communication, and educational events
Collaborate with the Center Director to promote enrollment growth and family retention
Foster a positive, collaborative culture focused on continuous improvement and educational excellence
Qualifications
Must meet all New York City Education Director qualification requirements under applicable DOHMH and/or OCFS licensing regulations
Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or a closely related field required
New York State Teacher Certification (Birth–Grade 2 or equivalent) strongly preferred, when applicable
Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in an early childhood education setting
Demonstrated experience coaching teachers and improving classroom quality
Thorough knowledge of New York City and New York State childcare licensing regulations
Outstanding leadership, organizational, and communication skills
