    About the Role:

    Join the JOHN M BARRY BOYS & GIRLS CLUB as our Education Director, where you will play a pivotal role in shaping the educational experiences of our youth. We are seeking an innovative leader who is passionate about empowering children through engaging programs and activities.

    Responsibilities

    Develop and implement educational programs that align with the club’s mission and goals.

    Oversee the curriculum and ensure it meets the diverse needs of members.

    Lead and mentor a team of educators and volunteers to foster a supportive learning environment.

    Evaluate program effectiveness and implement data-driven improvements.

    Coordinate with parents, schools, and community organizations to enhance educational offerings.

    Manage the education budget and allocate resources effectively.

    Organize workshops and training sessions for staff and volunteers.

    Promote a culture of inclusivity and respect in all educational initiatives.

    Requirements

    Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (Master’s preferred).

    Minimum of 2 years of experience in educational program management.

    Strong leadership skills with a passion for youth development.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Proven ability to collaborate with diverse groups.

    Knowledge of best practices in education and youth programming.

    Ability to analyze data and implement strategic improvements.

    General Responsibilities & Duties

    Assist youth with homework and academic support.

    Engage members in programs that inspire future career exploration.

    Build and expand community partnerships to enhance programming.

    Maintain education inventory, including supplies, equipment, and facilities.

    Attend weekly staff meetings and all club events.

    Learn and integrate new technologies to enhance programming and expose members to new opportunities.

    Teen Programming

    Tutor and mentor youth ages 13–18 in both small and large group settings.

    Provide employment, health, life skills, and training opportunities through needs-based and interest-based programs.

    Promote and implement initiatives that reinforce positive self-identity.

    Serve as a liaison to the Teen Director to maximize resources (e.g., job readiness, financial aid assistance, college readiness, d2D program).

    Program Planning & Design

    Design and implement innovative programming.

    Facilitate BGCA programming for youth and teens.

    Develop programs that promote academic achievement and interest in higher education.

    Provide diverse, gender-balanced STEM programming (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).

    Coordinate club-wide STEM activities and professional development for staff, parents, and community members.

    Develop and manage community-based STEM partnerships.

    Identify and collaborate with external education agencies to strengthen programming.

    Administer the Colantonio Essay Contest.

    Host an annual spelling bee.

    Maintain the education budget.

    Advertising & Recruitment

    Prepare promotional materials (including photos) prior to each program session.

    Promote education programs within the club, schools, and the broader community.

    Develop and submit seasonal program schedules (Fall, Winter, Spring) to the Program Director.

    Maintain and update bulletin boards each season.

    Program Facilitation

    Maintain attendance records, correspondence files, and operational documentation.

    Ensure programs start and end on time.

    Organize end-of-session celebrations for each program cycle.

    Program Evaluation

    Compile participant lists and report data to the Program Director.

    Conduct membership surveys to assess interests and program effectiveness.

    Assist with outcome measurement reports.

    Prepare documentation (including photos) for awards events at the end of each session.

    Safety & Policy Enforcement

    Maintain a clean, safe, positive, and engaging environment.

    Follow all emergency procedures correctly.

    Provide first aid when necessary.

    Supervision & Human Resource Management

    Supervise and support volunteers.

    Recruit volunteers and delegate tasks effectively.

    Additional Duties

    Plan seasonal educational events, field trips, displays, and activities.

    Support the development department with annual fundraising events.

    Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director.
