    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Educational Assistant is a committed member of a school team closing the opportunity gap. The Educational Assistant serves as academic or behavioral support to a student or a small group of students in the classroom. In addition, the Educational Assistant creates an inclusive and welcoming environment for our parents and scholars.     ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

    • Implement instructional resources for a small group of children in the classroom.
    • Create a positive educational climate for students.
    • Participate in ongoing professional development and coaching.
    • Modify lessons during the course of the school year to meet student needs.
    • Utilize curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students served.
    • Follow the school-wide behavior system.
    • Establish and maintain strong relationships with all children.
    • Maintain communication with students' parents or guardians.
    • Support accommodations during school-wide assessments.
    • Ensure safety and supervision of students at all times.
    • Maintain regular, reliable, and predictable attendance, which is an essential function of the role.
    • Perform other related duties as assigned to meet the ongoing needs of the school and organization.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Education Required: Associate Degree (or equivalent of 60+ college credits) or a passing score on the paraprofessional assessment.
    • Experience working with children, preferred.
    • Strong planning and time management skills.

    PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

    Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

    • Ability to stand and move around the classroom for extended periods.
    • Ability to sit at a desk and work on a computer for extended periods.
    • Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25 lbs (e.g., instructional materials, student supports).
    • Ability to support students physically as needed, which may include kneeling, bending, or assisting with mobility.
    • Ability to engage in crisis intervention or student safety procedures when necessary.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and in writing.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Work is performed in a school/classroom environment with typical levels of noise and activity.
    • Exposure to students with varying emotional, behavioral, and academic needs.
    • Occasional exposure to bodily fluids may occur as part of student support.
    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required for certain tasks.
    • The role may require travel between classrooms, school buildings, and occasional off-site events.
