Covia is looking for a dynamic SENIOR TAX ACCOUNTANT who will have a positive impact on the FINANCE team at its INDEPENDENCE, OH location. This position will support the Tax Manager in the preparation of federal, state and local income/franchise tax filings. This person will also support the Tax Manager in preparing quarterly and annual tax provision calculations. The Senior Tax Accountant will have primary responsibility for foreign income tax return compliance and will support the Tax Manager with foreign portion of the quarterly and annual tax provisions. The Senior Tax Accountant will work with Accounting Department to manage the fixed asset ledgers required for tax reporting. Also, this position will work with the Accounting Department to manage unclaimed property and will have primary responsibility for the preparation and filing of annual reports.

Strong commercial experience with the ability to structure creative deals for customer solutions, negotiate contracts, and deal effectively with customers
Experience in sales, commercial finance, contract negotiation, risk and/or project management
Excellent written and analytical skills
Industry knowledge/competitive landscape understanding is preferred
Good working knowledge of legal aspects and contracting requirements
General understanding of utilities and specific knowledge concerning utility distribution systems
Must have proficient multitasking, project and time management skills
Computer skills that include Microsoft Office
