    EDMO’s summer team members spend 5-10 weeks of summer connecting with kids, honing leadership skills, and making a real impact - all while rocking wacky costumes and getting pied in the face! Our summer positions offer a unique opportunity to help kids uncover hidden talents and dive deeper into existing talents. Spend your summer pursuing your goals and developing invaluable, transferrable professional skills (including problem solving, classroom management, and coaching).

     The Technology Instructor is responsible for teaching all technology curriculum for campers entering 1-5th grade. They train on all technology curriculum and lead their campers through a four period day including two curriculum theme rotations, one rotation focused on social and emotional learning and one outdoor game time period. This year’s technology themes include: Digital Animation Studio, Coding in Scratch, Roblox Space Academy, Roblox Studio, Minecraft Safari Adventure, and Minecraft Coding. Instructors should be prepared for a summer filled with personal and professional growth, classroom management practice, and a whole lot of FUN! Note: These programs are taking place in-person for summer 2022.

    MAIN DUTIES INCLUDE:

    • Approaching education with passion and excitement and building positive role model relationships with campers 
    • Leading two rotations of technology enrichment curriculum daily with themes varying by week
    • Assisting with Game Time and SEL curriculum
    • Coaching and supervising Counselors working with you
    • Refining curriculum and adding personal contributions as seen fit
    • Working closely with other staff members to create fun camp games, songs, skits and activities – and participating in all
    • Helping to lead daily camper check in and check out procedures 
    • Interacting with campers and parents in a professional and energetic manner
    • Helping to cultivate healthy self-esteem and a natural love for learning 
    • Ensuring all campers are safe and have a positive experience in our program (this includes diligently following all EDMO Covid-19 guidelines and restrictions if you are working at our in-person programs)
    • Exhibiting the EDMO Vibe and demonstrating through actions and words each of the social emotional learning (SEL) skills of empathy, responsibility, initiative, collaboration, problem solving and emotion management, while also reinforcing these qualities in other staff and kids

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS ARE:

    • Tech savvy and able to troubleshoot technical problems 
    • Basic familiarity with any/all of the following: Minecraft, Roblox, Scratch, Stop Motion editing, 3D modeling software, coding, and gaming in general 
    • Experience (and a love for!) working with kids
    • High sense of responsibility and dependability 
    • Strong team player
    • Creative, flexible, and excellent multi-tasker
    • Willingness to solve problems, be patient, and remain positive and fun
    • Experience facilitating groups of children (in person or online) and/or working youth programs 
    • Classroom management and teaching experience is a HUGE plus
    • Bachelor's Degree/Degree in progress in a related field and/or relevant experience

    BONUS: 

    • Have an understanding of the core mechanics of Minecraft, such as:
    • Survival Mode vs. Creative Mode
    • How items are crafted
    • The properties of tools and armor
    • How to use commands
    • Experience playing Minecraft in a multiplayer server
    • Experience with any kind of game development
    • Experience with Java and/or Javascript
     
    

    Additional Information

    This role is full time in the summer. Training dates will be in May. Exact dates to be discussed during the interview process. Dates depend on program sites with programs running from June - August, at a duration of 5-10 weeks.

    SALARY & HOURS:

    $17 - 18/hr depending on location/region and experience

    HOURS: Monday - Friday, 7:45 AM - 4:15 PM with potential for overtime There will be 50 total hours of spring training for this position.

    MUST BE FULLY VACCINATED WITH THE COVID - 19 VACCINE TO WORK WITH EDMO.

    _For 2022 in-person programming: To ensure the safety of everyone in the EDMO community, we will be monitoring all local and state COVID-19 policies to determine the safest protocols.  Staff will be expected to agree and uphold all safety protocols that are necessary once programs start. _
