  • Responsibilities

    General Summary of Duties: Responsible for providing professional clinical care for patients under supervision of the physician. Assists providers in coordinating patient care and recording documentation. Functions as primary liaison between patients and providers.

     

    Major Responsibilities/Tasks:

     

    • Promptly answer telephone calls in a courteous manner, screen calls, and record messages for physician and other personnel.
    • Greet patients and assist physician with rooming patients. Prepare patients for physician examination. Screen patients for appropriate information.
    • Prepare patient charts for the clinic and request medical records as needed.
    • Run clinic: room patient in a timely manner, take vitals and medical history and document in EMR accurately, and make a report to the providers before they enter the room.
    • Maintain exam rooms for necessary supplies and materials. Ensure cleanliness. Prepare list of medical supplies needed. Prepare equipment and aid physician during treatment, examination and testing of patients. Instruct patients in collection of samples and tests.
    • Maintain/review patient records, charts and other pertinent information. Record tests and examination results accurately in patient's chart. Communicate with the physician for any abnormal results.
      • Record patient care calls and document in an electronic medical record accurately and in a timely manner. Scan documents in EMR accurately and timely.
      • Respond to patient treatment-related phone calls (including all post-op calls after 30 days of surgery). Instruct patient and family regarding medications and treatment instructions per their providers direction.
      • Manage medication refills for the practice (get the providers approval and process the refill).
      • Manage Patient Portal messages in Athena.
      • Send patient care summary to the referring physicians.
      • Assist in DME dispensing as needed.
      • Call injection pateints within 48 hours to see how they are doing and document the call in the chart- make sure they have a follow-up on the schedule.
      • Maintain safe, secure, and healthy work environment by establishing and following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations.
      • Serve and protect the practice by adhering to professional standards, policies and procedures, federal, state, and local requirements.
      • Assist with scheduling referrals and tests.
      • Dashboard duties as directed.
      • Maintain patient confidentiality.
      • Perform other related duties as directed or required.
