    Who We Need:

    We are looking for a strategic, experienced Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist Instructor in San Antonio, Texas to support the Medical Readiness Training Center (MRTC) at Joint Base San Antonio (JBSA) Camp Bullis. This essential member of our family will provide instruction on medical equipment and emergency-care scenarios in the deployed environment to enhance individual and collective team readiness. The MRTC course instructors provide specialized training to medical personnel to prepare them to be combat ready as a highly mobile force.

    This role is perfect for someone who has knowledge in a simulated deployed medical environment and providing guidance on overcoming medical challenges with limited resources often present at a deployed military treatment facility (MTF). You will utilize scenarios to assess student response and reaction and provide guidance on efficient and effective solutions. Your instruction will enhance the development, sustainment, and refinement of medical skill sets to prepare for upcoming deployments. You will leverage your experience and passion to drive results and exceed customer expectations.

    Responsibilities:

    • Knowledge and ability to evaluate students on the following skills :Observation and evaluation ability of advanced vascular access, central IV access, arterial lines, rapid infusion catheters, regional anesthesia procedures, critical care management of simulated patients, ventilators, vasoactive drips, sedation, field triage procedures and field casualty care management.
    • Knowledge of Laryngeal Mask Airway (LMA) airway management.
    • Diagnose and treat patients with common acute conditions, chronic illnesses, or minor trauma within accepted protocols, clinical practice guidelines, Nurse Practice Acts, and/or in consultation with a physician.
    • Technically direct and teach other staff, provide evidenced-based educational lectures and participate in in-service training to staff members.
    • Promote preventive care and health maintenance including annual physicals, positive health behaviors and self-care through both formal and individual education and counseling.
    • Communicate and collaborate with a diverse group of people for the purpose of informing the healthcare team of plans/actions, for teaching/education to benefit the patient/family and organization.
    • Recognize conditions that require isolation and ensure universal precautions are used in all patient encounters.
    • Attend staff meetings to provide case discussion, continuing education, and continuous quality improvement and safety.

     

    Special Skills and Requirements

    Education: Possess an advanced academic degree as Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist.

    Licensure/Registration: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license as a Registered Nurse.

    Experience: A minimum of one (1) year experience as a registered nurse, which may include the six (6) months as a privileged practitioner. Prior deployment experience is preferred, but not required.

    Certifications: Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) and certified as a Nurse Practitioner by the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC), American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) or the recognized national nursing certification organization for the specialty area of practice as appropriate.

    Knowledgeable: Possess a comprehensive knowledge and experience level to conduct formal classroom and austere field environment instruction to students assigned to Expeditionary Medical Support (EMEDS), Patient Decontamination (DECON), Ground Surgical Team (GST), Aeromedical Evacuations & Patient Staging Coarse AEPSC, and Expeditionary Medical Readiness Coarse (EMRC).

    Physical Requirements/Environmental Demands:

    • Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. from ground to waist level.

    • Course instructors must maintain a satisfactory or better rating on instructor evaluations, the ability to work in a field environment for long periods, and withstand working in rain, hot/cold temperatures, and rough terrain.
    • Ability to work with live tissue, bodily fluids, and blood in a medical capacity.
    • Ability to wear and work in mission-oriented protection posture (MOPP) gear.
    • Ability to pass any background, drug, and security checks as required by the Company and / or Government.
