    Are you an experienced PIPING DESIGNER looking for a field based opportunity?  We are seeking a PIPING DESIGNER to join our team onsite a facility located in Concord, CA_. _In this role you will work in a schedule driven environment where timing is a critical function. As a member of the field services team, you will work in a collaborative, multi-discipline environment working closely with our client.

    As a PIPING DESIGNER at Eichleay you will work in a collaborative environment.  You will review brownfield site conditions, assist in laser scanning (if applicable), handle MOC PSI updates, inspection drawing updates, review piping specifications, develop models in AutoCAD, prepare piping isometrics, plan elevation drawings and bills of materials. You will participate in project meetings, model reviews and interface with other disciplines that are working in the model. This position may coordinate the work of other assigned designers and drafters, and is responsible for reviewing and checking assigned work to meet quality standards.

    Eichleay’s projects are typically small to medium size brownfield projects in client facilities. Our clients are in the refining, chemical, life sciences, pharmaceutical and food/beverage industries. 

    ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS: 

    • Prepares drawings and layouts, specifications, technical calculations, charts and graphs, cost estimates, and bills of materials.
    • Responsible for developing designs for complete and complex engineering systems, structures and plant arrangements.
    • Demonstrates awareness and commitment to health, safety and environmental issues.   
    • Receives minimal supervision on unusual or difficult problems, and general review of all aspects or work.
    • Reviews and checks calculations, design models, drawings and design documents for quality, accuracy, neatness, functionality, and satisfactory completion.
    • Plans, organizes, and coordinates own work as well as work of assigned designers and drafters.
    • Plans and executes the presentation of arrangements in graphic form or in detailed scale models.
    • Consistently achieves goals, delivers quality and accurate work and meets timelines.
    • Effectively interacts with all levels of employees, clients and vendors.
    • Strong customer focus with commitment to building enduring relationships that yield customer satisfaction and loyalty.
    • Ability to deal with change and demonstrate flexibility as required.
    • Adheres to required processes and embraces opportunities for continuous improvement.
    • Must be a self-starter, resourceful, and able to work at high level with little supervision.

     

    JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

    • Associate's degree in an engineering discipline and THREE OR MORE years of refinery experience; or 3 years or more direct in-plant refinery experience in lieu of degree.  
    • Experience working on “brownfield” projects.
    • Understanding of the importance of obtaining eyes-on field verified data.
    • Fundamental understanding of refinery piping components, related materials, weld procedures and testing, pipe stress, ASME B31.3, basic pressure vessel code, and related API codes.
    • Experience participating in constructability reviews with field construction contractors, as well as refinery operations personnel.
    • Experience executing project design work from initial design phase through construction and start-up phase.
    • Willingness to modify personal work schedule to accommodate occasional short-notice refinery urgencies.
    • Understanding of cost and schedule impacts when even minor design errors are encountered in the field.
    • Knowledge of API, ASME and ANSI standards.
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
    • Experience with AutoCAD
    • Experience in working with multiple discipline projects
    • Proficient in Microsoft office
    • Ability to be badged for a process safety management governed facility which requires in depth drug screening.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    • Ability to perform site walk downs which may involve climbing stairs and ladders to reach elevated platforms.
    • Must be able occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
    • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perceptions, and the ability to adjust focus.
    • Overtime may be necessary as workload dictates. This may include weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.
    • Job will generally be performed onsite a production facility. Conditions will vary, but the conditions listed above will generally apply.
