    Eichleay, Inc. provides engineering services in both industrial and biotech facilities. Eichleay provides full service design, engineering, consulting, project management, procurement, system integration, and construction management services.  Currently we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer with petrochemical experience to join our team.  This position will be based in our Concord, CA office reporting into the Mechanical Department.

    Duties:

    • Prepares mechanical equipment descriptions, performs equipment sizing and prepares equipment data sheets
    • Selects mechanical equipment.
    • Prepares mechanical equipment technical specifications and equipment RFQs to request budgetary pricing to support study or project work.
    • Performs technical analysis of bids and review of vendor drawings.  
    • Mechanical equipment includes, but is not limited to, compressors, pumps, separators, filters, heat exchangers,   and storage   tanks.
    • Prepares equipment layouts
    • Preparation of calculations including, hydraulics, process simulations, piping sizing,   control   valve and equipment   sizing, pressure head calculations, and performance flow curves.
    • Actively participates in the development of the Basic Engineering Design Document (BEDD) document for each project.
    • Excellent working knowledge of standard software including Excel and Word.
    • Excellent working knowledge of applicable codes such as ASME Section 8 Divisions 1 and 2, B31.3, B31.4, AWS, and API specifications.
    • Assures all mechanical engineering designs meet applicable codes and standards including company standards, API, ASME as well as others used in static and rotating equipment mechanical design and development for refineries, petro/chemical and mid-stream gas processing, general industry, and utilities.
    • Prepares studies, including cost-benefit analysis for competing mechanical solutions resulting in robust, cost effective designs.
    • Trouble-shoot existing systems in the field, determine modifications to existing systems to change performance, etc.
    • Coordinates with clients, vendors and subcontractors as required.
    • Prepares job books
    • Contributes to the development of client proposal and project cost estimates.
    • Communicates and interfaces openly and frequently with Project Managers, Project Engineers and other Managers of discipline engineers.  Participates in periodic project reviews and client discussions, as required, to ensure client satisfaction
    • Coordinates engineering activities with Procurement Department assuring excellent communication and review of vendor documents and approval prior to final sign off and procurement of all mechanical equipment
    • Promotes value engineering and technical review through periodic reviews of Mechanical Data Sheets and Company standards.
    • Keeps current with advances in technology in the marketplace.
    • Maintain strict compliance and technical support with Quality Assurance  and Quality Control processes and procedures as well as EH&S
    • Promotes value engineering  

     

    Qualifications:

    • Must have  10+ years of mechanical design experience in refining, chemical, industrial, and  gas processing or utility industry
    • Experience performing fixed and rotating equipment sizing and preparing equipment data sheets and specifications
    • Experience selecting fixed and rotating equipment
    • Experience, as such above, includes, but is not limited to, compressors, pumps, pressure vessels, tanks and heat exchangers
    • A Bachelors of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering is required
    • Must be eligible for work in the U.S.A. for any employer without sponsorship
    • Field experience preferred
    • Have a PE or able to obtain a PE
