    Eichleay, Inc. provides professional engineering services in both industrial and biotech facilities. Eichleay provides full service design, engineering, consulting, project management, procurement, system integration, and construction management services.  Currently we are seeking a Mechanical Engineer with HVAC biotech facilities experience to join our team.  This position will be based in our Concord, CA office reporting into the Mechanical Department Manager.

    Position requires thorough knowledge of heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system design and engineering techniques, as well as CAD and graphics skills.  Responsible to plan and conduct independent work requiring judgment in the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures and criteria.  Devise new approaches to problems, and prepare or modify drawings, specifications, calculations, charts and graphs, and monitor work for compliance to applicable codes, accepted engineering practices and Eichleay standards.

    Typical Duties:

    Typical duties will include but not be limited to the preparation and/or modification of the following:

    HVAC system engineering calculations.

    HVAC system engineering plans, design, and layout.

    HVAC system project specifications.

    HVAC system portion of project proposals.

    HVAC system portion of project cost estimates.

    Essential Functions:

    Responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

    • Perform HVAC system design and analysis calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas, skills, and experience.

    • Develop schematic or conceptual layouts.

    • HVAC system layout and detailing of projects using schematic layout by project lead engineer. 

    • Produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by Designers/Drafters.

    • Research design options and document findings.

    • Review shop drawings.

    • Coordinate work with other disciplines such as architectural, civil/structural, electrical, etc.

    • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering design documents.

    • Attend and participate in Client and Eichleay meetings.

    • Perform field activities such as observe and record existing field conditions, take and verify measurements within project area.

    • Organize, draft, and coordinate technical documents.

    • Capable and experienced in managing and performing multiple projects in a fast paced environment.

      Education/Experience:

    • Bachelor of Science degree in a mechanical engineering, and 8+ years of experience with advanced knowledge in HVAC system engineering, obtainable usually through a combination of experience and continuing education; or

    • Equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

    • Skills and Special Requirements/Licensing:

    • AutoCAD.
    • Experience in working with multiple discipline projects in a technical facilities environment.
    • Working experience with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) and retrofit projects are highly desired.
    • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Suite.
    • Licensed PE preferred.
    • Thorough knowledge of National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Codes, California Title 24 Building Standards including Energy Efficiency Standards, ASHRAE and ASME standards.
    • Pre-employment drug and alcohol screening.
    • Background screening including previous employment, education, criminal history, and driving record verification.
