JOB OVERVIEW: The Senior Product Owner is a professional role responsible for making decisions regarding priority, business value, and functionality for all the work done by the Agile development team. The position possesses an in-depth knowledge of goals and desired objectives of the product.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Acting as a fully integrated team member to work with the business units to represent the technical requirements that achieve business goals and objectives
- Creating, maintaining, prioritizing, and sequencing the product backlog based on business value or ROI
- Creating user stories and acceptance tests from themes and features, granular enough for a single sprint
- Prioritizing user stories by business value and deciding which user stories are scheduled into sprints
- Participating in project planning, daily stand-up meetings (scrums), reviews, retrospectives, sprint and release planning, demos, and other Scrum-related meetings
- Reviews deliverable and demonstrable code after every sprint and has the authority to accept or reject
- Developing and maintaining standards for testing and progress visibility
- Assisting with prioritization and resolution of defects / bugs
- Terminates the sprint if a drastic change-in-direction is required
- Providing encouragement, recognition, and support to the team.
EMPLOYMENT TYPE & HOURS: This is a full-time, exempt position. Regular office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., M-F.

Required Experience
- 2+ years of project management experience, and 5+ years of experience in a related stakeholder function
- Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
- Thorough understanding of the software development lifecycle
- In-depth knowledge of testing practices and techniques
- Understanding of organization’s technical environment
- Ability to understand technical issues
