HealthFitness has an exciting opportunity for a casual part-time (2-6 hrs/wk) SPORTS OFFICIAL at our client site in Anna, OH! Our Recreation program offers adults and youth the opportunity to compete in various recreational sports. This position will officiate recreational leagues on a seasonal basis.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Officiate the games and instruct players on the rules of the game as necessary.
- Reports any problems with games and/or players to the Program Coordinator & Program Manager.
- Exercise authority in an impartial, firm, and controlled manner.
- Dress neatly and appropriately for each shift.
- Be punctual and professional in the fulfillment of responsibilities
- Effectively communicate with management regarding participant and facility issues or concerns.
- Discipline participants utilizing facility agreed on standards to address disruptive or unsafe behavior.
- Other duties as needed/assigned.
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE & CERTIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- Strong verbal communication skills with both children and adults.
- Knowledge of standard rules of play of the game being played.
- Ability to be on time for all scheduled games.
- Referee two consecutive one hour games/matches up to three nights a week.
- Active listening skills and ability to relate to and provide excellent customer service to participants and spectators.
- Ability to work independently, problem solve, and make decisions with limited supervision.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy and thoroughness.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability make quick decisions, possess mature judgment, and sound decision-making.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Certified Basketball official with local governing body.
PREFERRED:
- CPR and First Aid certifications.
- Sports knowledge and background.
