  • Responsibilities

    College Corner Worker will work with students in grades 9-12, who have been identified as needing support. Services include workshops for a baseline understanding of postsecondary options and individual advising session with students and develop a plan that will lead to postsecondary options,Post-Secondary Planning & Support

    Workers will provide engaging small group workshops and 1:1 session to improve student's knowledge of post-secondary options and requirements.

    Workers will work with up to 20 students to ensure each has an Individual Service Plan.

    Programming in areas such as post-secondary education options Four Systems of Higher Education, A-G requirements, financial aid, and career exploration.

    Maintain student information and records by tracking, logging and entering workshop, 1:1 hours/time spent with students.

    Workers will participate in field trips and events that include college field trips, providing financial aid application assistance in FAFSA, Super Saturday workshops and a graduation ceremony.

    Academic Support

    Workers will provide tutoring and homework help.

    Tutoring will be provided individually and in small groups.

    Workers will coach students around short and long-term academic goals by reviewing alongside students' transcripts and report cards.

    Relationship Building

    Facilitate communication and maintain positive relationships among other teachers, students' families and community partners.

    Participate in celebrations, group supervision and staff meetings.

    Eligibility:

    Must be enrolled in full-time or part-time post-secondary education (4-year university or community college)

    Must be age 24 or under.

    Clear a National Criminal History Check.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    Have experience volunteering with other community-based or education programs.

    Interest in working with youth.

    Strong written and verbal communication skills.

    Proven ability to manage tasks and schedule independently.

    Demonstrated success with constituent relations skills (volunteers, teachers, parents)

    Access to reliable transportation (public transporation or personal transport) to travel within a defined geographic region.

    Experience in tutoring.

    Experience working with diverse communities.

    Bilingual (English/Spanish)
