    Job Description

    ESA’s Electrical Engineering department in Merrimack is looking for an engineering technician to provide design/development support and board bring-up, troubleshooting and corrective action development in support of our electronics development efforts. In this role, you will be working with a team of electrical engineers and technicians to develop, test, and deliver a wide range of innovative new products for our customers. Typical duties and responsibilities may include, but are not necessarily limited to, those listed below.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

    • In this role, you will assist in the design of components, assemblies, or portions of systems and modify existing designs to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations while utilizing computer-aided design equipment and/or graphics tools.  You will work closely with members of an engineering project team, accepting minimal direction and instructions, and work with project team members or manufacturing on engineering change orders. When acting as a lead technician on an engineering project you may coordinate, review and analyze the activities of others.
    • You will also be responsible for the bring-up, testing, and troubleshooting of new designs, under the direction of the engineering staff, and may be working independently from engineering drawings, engineering change orders, bills of materials, work instructions, and test procedures. You will also document and update repair and rework procedures, and prepare detailed assembly and rework instructions for use in production.
    • Perform required acceptance testing of assemblies and components in accordance with approved Acceptance Test Procedures or other engineering documents with Engineering assistance, if necessary.
    • Perform diagnostic testing, troubleshooting, and fault isolation, as necessary.
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Associate’s degree in electrical engineering or electronics technology and 5 + years’ experience in developing and working with complex electronic or electro-mechanical subassemblies, major assemblies and systems. 

    Must be capable of working independently from engineering drawings, schematics, performance specifications, quality standards and customer repair orders.

    • Experience with standard electronic test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters, etc.); experience with optoelectronic and electro-optical systems (lasers, IR and visible light cameras/sensors, related optics, and displays) is a plus.
    • IPC soldering certification, including an IPC-A-610 endorsement (and preferably also WHMA-A-620, Cable & Wire Harness Assemblies) or the ability to obtain this certification is preferred.
