    Job Description

    SCOPE:  The Continuous Improvement Intern assists the Continuous Improvement team to ensure development products conform to customer, regulatory, manufacturing, and supply chain requirements and performs continuous improvement initiatives to reduce cost and time to market.

    RESPONSIBILITIES & TASKS:

    • Identify process improvements and lead continuous improvement projects
    • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) tasks
    • Conduct Process and Program Audits
    • Support AS9100, CMMI and DO-178 certification efforts
    • Solve complex system level issues through development and collaboration with multi-discipline teams
    • Develop solutions to technical issues through the application of professionally accepted techniques, practices and procedures
    • Other related duties as assigned by supervisor

    AUTHORITIES:

    Represent the Mission Assurance organization to ensure quality product utilizing effective practices. 

    Ensure compliance of products, documents, services, or other articles, meet customer, statutory, regulatory, ESA, or other stakeholder requirements.

    Collaborate with internal organizations to identify solutions

    OUTSIDE BUSINESS RELATIONSHIPS:

    Customer product design and development quality professionals

    Systems

    Qualifications

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    EDUCATION (HIGHEST LEVEL REQUIRED/PREFERRED)

    Specific Degree Field, only if required: PERUSING UNDERGRADUATE OR GRADUATE DEGREE IN ENGINEERING OR EQUIVALENT TECHNICAL DEGREE.

     

    TRAINING PRE-REQUISITES (WITHIN ONE YEAR OF TAKING POSITION):

        ESD

        Safety Training, as dictated by Safety Department

        ESA Security

        Other Specialized Training, as required

    CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES:

    Preferred:         CERTIFIED SIX SIGMA GREEN / BLACK BELT

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES REQUIRED (Unique and Measurable):

    • Skilled in both Written and Verbal communication.
    • Ability to perform ESA Continuous Improvement duties with no oversight.
    • Ability to assume ESA Continuous Improvement leadership responsibilities.
    • Experience with Process Improvement
    • Excellent problem-solving skills
    • Ability to bring multi-discipline teams together to resolve complex issues
    • Broad understanding of applicable industry tools, systems & processes
    • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management methodologies such as Six-sigma, Kaizan, Control Plans, FMEA, ISO-9001/AS-9100 Quality Management
