    Job Description

    The SURVIVABILITY SYSTEM ENGINEER INTERN, with guidance from senior engineers, researches, plans, designs, develops, analyzes, verifies, and validates a variety of survivability systems such as RF electronic attack and laser and missile warning systems for rotary and fixed winged platforms.  The SURVIVABILITY SYSTEM ENGINEER INTERN will assist with integrating state of the art organically developed and/or third-party solutions into new products and systems, develop tools and analytics for operational analysis and performance validation, and work directly with the customer to develop, understand, and shape requirements for future systems while supporting integration and testing of current contract work.

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:

    • Perform basic design activities as assigned by their supervisor.
    • Develop and update MATLAB scripts as needed for:
      • System tuning and mission data file (MDF) generation,
      • System level verification and validation against requirements,
      • Generation of tools for senior engineers to quickly analyze system performance.
    • Develop requirements, specifications, plans, procedures, and reports for survivability system development and product qualification, verification, and validation.
    • Produce contract data requirement list (CDRL) items where assigned.
    • Participate in technical information meetings (TIMs) with customer and ESA subject matter experts (SMEs).
    • Release work product into the appropriate document and change management tool.
    • Interface with other engineering disciplines and program management to understand requirements and scope of effort.
    • Consult with vendors on technology selections.

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Must be able to obtain a favorably adjudicated DOD Clearance at the Secret level.
    • Experienced in at minimum 1 software programming language.
    • Willingness to take initiative.
    • Ability to analyze large data sets and organize and report results to team members in a manner that allows for efficient resolution and decisions.
    • Demonstrated problem solving and troubleshooting.
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    • Willingness to learn and improve in all areas.

    PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    • Experience in data analytics, optimization, and modeling.
    • Programing proficiency, preferably C/C++ and/or MATLAB.

    EDUCATION:

    • Current Student working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Applied Mathematics; System or Software Engineering preferred.
