    Job Description

    Elbit Systems of America is seeking a Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences major interested in gaining firsthand working knowledge of environmental, health, and safety (EHS) functions. This role will work under the direction of the site’s Environmental Health and Safety Manager and will work closely with operations personnel to reduce injury risk.

    Responsibilities include the following:

    • Perform Job Hazard Analysis (JHA’s) and Ergonomic Assessments, identify and communicate opportunities for risk mitigation
    • Assess written safety programs and procedures, identify gaps and develop corrective actions (specific emphasis on the control of hazardous energy (LO/TO), powered industrial trucks and hazard communication)
    • Assist in developing a Near Miss program and developing leading indicators to improve employee safety
    • Assist in preparation for ISO14001 and ISO45001 certification
    • Perform other EHS related duties as required
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must be a current student enrolled in a Safety and Occupational Health Applied Sciences or closely related degree program
    • Familiarity with OSHA standards including, but not limited to the control of hazardous energy (LO/TO), powered industrial trucks and hazard communication
    • Professional demeanor, ability to interface with all levels of the organization including company executives, operations personnel and outside contractors
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills, the ability to understand and follow complex, detailed instructions and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
    • Must be flexible and able to handle multiple priorities, and be able to work for short to moderate periods of time without direct supervision
    • Must possess moderate computer skills (database management and programs for reports and letters), Microsoft Office preferred, and e-mail and internet skills required.
    • Must be available to work full-time hours from June - August 2022, part-time during the following school year is desirable
