Responsibilities: We are seeking an experienced, full-time attorney with extraordinary compassion and outstanding organizational and communication skills to design, draft, and implement estate and elder law plans, including strategizing and prosecuting ABD Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance benefits applications, and provide outstanding customer service to clients.The Estate and Elder Law Planning Attorney works closely with the firm’s managing partner to design estate and asset protection strategies for the firm’s clients; works directly with the firm’s clients to customize and implement their estate and asset protection plans; oversees a staff of paralegals and support personnel to provide client services including document creation, client retitling recommendations, Medicaid and VA Aid & Attendance applications and estate/trust administration/fiduciary services in our probate department; oversees the operations of the planning department to meet business goals and projections and to empower the planning staff. The Planning Associate positively represents the firm at all times through a success-oriented and professional demeanor.This position requires supervision and training of legal assistants and coordination of paralegal hiring. This position requires substantial management time. Qualifications: Position Expectations – The Associate has: • Virginia State Bar admission.Maryland and District Bar admission, a plus. • A minimum of two (2) to four (4) years’ experience in estate planning and/or elder law. • A positive attitude and ability to communicate clearly, compassionately, and empathetically with clients and team members. • A friendly, courteous, and professional demeanor. • A commitment to quality, critical thinking, focus and consistent follow-through with clients and team members. • The ability to prioritize, organize and meet deadlines. • Is a self-starter and adept at taking directions, exceeding expectations; not happy when things are “good enough.” • Is confident and tenacious, willing to “speak truth to power” when needed. • The ability to anticipate and easily respond to an ever-changing schedule while at the same time working to adhere to the schedule. • The ability to exercise diplomacy and discretion. • Commitment to effective teamwork and fulfilling role with a sense of humor, gratitude, and patience. • Reports to the managing partner but is also expected to coordinate efforts with the Practice Manager. Compensation: $95,000+
