    Want to Have Fun Gardening & Crafting with Elders, Few Hrs/Month & Be Paid?

    Eldergrow is looking for our next friendly, nature-loving Educator in the east Mukilteo , WA area. If you enjoy gardening, helping others, flexibility with scheduling classes and ongoing training, then Eldergrow is perfect for you. Eldergrow Educators provide elders in long term care settings a therapeutic connection to nature by teaching classes using our mobile indoor garden that lives in long-term & memory care communities. Educators receive online paid training which leads to certification as an Eldergrow Educator.

    This is a fun and rewarding role that even sometimes includes chocolate (which comes from plants after all). An Eldergrow Educator's goal is to make connections and engage elders, as well as building relationships with community staff where the therapy gardens are installed. Educators should be friendly, outgoing, able to project their voice, caring, and comfortable around elders who have varied cognitive and physical needs. The best Educator candidates will have some gardening or basic plant-care skills and experience interacting with a vulnerable population like seniors, children, persons with cognitive or physical limitations or addictions.

    For a glimpse of a day in the life of an educator

    What does your time and pay look like?

    Monthly stipend of $152.00 for about 7 hours of work (1 garden) in east Mukilteo area

    • Two monthly gardening education and connecting with seniors sessions (1 hours each for a total of 2 hours) supporting 1 community garden

    • Pictures and after-lesson garden maintenance (1 hour each for a total of 2 hours)

    • Picking up plants/supplies twice a month (2 hours)

    • Monthly online Educator community training (1 hour)

    • Class preparations - curriculum and class resources provided (0.5 hour)

    Qualifications and Skills:

    • Experience with Elders or other vulnerable populations who may have both physical and cognitive limitations
    • Moderate gardening /plant care skills
    • Must have access to dependable internet, a computer, and printer for class documents.
    • Smartphone- educators are required to take and upload photos after every class.
    • Able to pass a background check to work with vulnerable populations
    • Driver's license and insured vehicle required - you will drive to communities that engage our service and occasionally pick up gardening supplies.
    • Willing to join and participate in our company Facebook group.
    • Mild physical requirements include: 1) able to stand/move around the room for at least an hour 2) kneel/bend down to maintain the garden, 3) lift soil bags and 4) push the mobile garden (on wheels, no lifting).
