SUMMARY
We are seeking an experienced Electrical Designer or Electrical Engineer to take ownership of the electrical backbone of our generator enclosures and control systems. This is a pre-manufacturing design role. You’ll work closely with mechanical designers, project managers, and shop floor teams to make sure our electrical systems are rock solid before a single wire is pulled. You’ll be responsible for translating customer requirements and internal standards into accurate, build-ready electrical designs—including generator wiring diagrams, control panel layouts, conduit runs, and power distribution systems. Your work will be the blueprint for both production and electrical integration.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop electrical layout drawings, panel designs, and wiring diagrams for generator enclosures and associated systems
- Create accurate conduit and load center layouts that comply with applicable codes and standards
- Work within AutoCAD or SolidWorks (electrical modules preferred, but not required) to produce clean, buildable designs
- Collaborate with mechanical design and manufacturing teams to ensure complete, aligned documentation packages
- Apply knowledge of NEC, UL508A, UL891, and UL1558 to designs and material selections
- Prepare detailed BOMs and support panel and wiring integration
- Review customer specs, evaluate feasibility, and ensure compliance
- Participate in design reviews, internal QA checks, and continuous improvement feedback loops
REQUIREMENTS
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks (Electrical a plus)
- Experience in generator systems, commercial MEP design, or similar industrial electrical environments
- Ability to read, interpret, and produce detailed electrical drawings
- Familiarity with NEC, UL508A, and UL891/1558 standards
- Self-motivation, accountability, and the ability to work quickly without sacrificing quality
- Power generation, backup systems, or switchgear experience is a plus
- Degree in Electrical Engineering preferred; equivalent hands-on experience strongly considered
- PE license not required but welcome
- Primarily office/computer-based with periodic visits to the shop floor
- Must be comfortable walking fabrication areas or reviewing in-progress work
- Occasional travel possible for customer coordination or vendor engagement
