    America In Motion Inc. offers 30 years' experience in the design, building and implementation of automated guided vehicles and AGV systems to provide automated material handling solutions featuring AGV technology and other forms of factory automation.

    Job Summary

    The candidate must have strong electrical engineering skills and the ability to design and built primarily custom systems. He/she will design, analyze, troubleshoot and support the battery powered DC and AC electrical designs from concept to manufacturing release. He/she works independently developing engineering product designs, processes, or software. The candidate will create PLC IEC61131-3 “Structured Text” based Software, and 2D/3D Models and drawings in support of the electrical side of product design, product development, and electrical engineering needs which includes new products from concept through transfer to manufacturing as well as significant post-launch design changes for current products. He/she will work collaboratively with project team members to develop and manage project plans.

    Responsibilities

    • Significant contributions to product design both independently and as part of a team
    • Meet deadlines and cost budgeting for assigned tasks
    • Create and Maintain PLC software for complex devices, controllers and functions.
    • Understand and design industrial, PID and motion control applications.
    • Understand basic Networking principles and setup of such.
    • Create 3D models and 2D drawings for electrical designs.
    • Develop data and make preliminary layouts, sketches and notes necessary to complete a design project.
    • Update existing drawings in accord with current specifications and requirements.
    • Responsible for development and release of engineering design documentation for current and new projects.
    • Investigate pertinent design factors such as Electrical currents and fusing requirements, sensor selection for robots, ease of wiring, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace-ability, contractual specification requirement, and cost.
    • Identifies and resolves issues, and communicates status to peers and managers
    • Ensure completeness, accuracy and testability of product requirements.
    • Requires wide knowledge and application of principles, theories and concepts in the field plus a working knowledge of other related disciplines.
    • Develop designs in accordance with one or several project development plans.
    • Communication design information and other project related issues with other departments and employees as needed.
    • Interact with shop assembly personnel to ensure a correct and high-quality product.
    • Specify Parts and Delegate Purchasing activities to ensure delivery of parts on time.
    • Support warranty efforts for designs delivered
    • Manage Obsolescence of electrical parts for existing designs

    Key duties (in current order of importance)

    • Record weekly time sheets in QuickBooks to keep tract of assigned budgeted hours per project
    • Review actual cost of designs when completed compared to budget

    Preferred Qualifications

    • BS in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent years of work experience preferred.
    • 5+ years of experience in Electrical Design and PLC programming. Structured Text is strongly preferred.
    • Advanced skills in utilizing computer design tools (Acad, Soft PLCs, SolidWorks, 3D CAD modeling, Microsoft Project)
    • Reacts quickly and effectively to project adjustments and alterations.
    • Experience in estimating, making engineering trade-offs - at different stages of development.
    • Ability to work with tight deadlines and troubleshoot design problems.
    • Work effectively with team members and contractors.
    • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and vendors.
    • Highly organized and can work with multiple projects at a time.
    • Flexible during times of change. Extended hours may be required to meet project deadlines.
    • Requires sufficient knowledge of the following software programs:

      • Microsoft® Office
      • Quickbooks Time
