  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY

    • Assist in the design, development, documentation, and testing of Atec products hardware/firmware and application programs.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Works closely with Electrical Engineering staff to develop hardware, firmware, documentation, and testing procedures using established practices while applying electrical engineering concepts and techniques.
    • Assist in the design and documentation of electrical hardware and equipment using digital, analog, and microprocessor based electronic components for military and commercial environments.
    • Assist in the design, testing, and debugging of firmware.
    • Exposure to programming languages (C/C++, Python, LabVIEW, PLC). C, assembly, ladder programming or CAN systems such as LabView etc.
    • Understanding of linear systems and components, Boolean algebra, digital analog circuits and fundamentals of electrical power systems.
    • Prepare or direct preparation of product and system layout, schematics, and detail drawings.
    • Assist with schematic capturing and overall wiring diagrams. Comprehension of electrical, electronics (analog, digital) and electro-mechanical components.
    • Compile and analyze operational, test and research data to establish Acceptance Test Standards for newly designed or modified equipment.
    • Assist in the creation and execution of technical manuals, ATPs, QTPs, and ICDs with Quality
    • Assurance and Technical Publications groups.
    • Coordinate and perform as necessary the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
    • Coordinate with Manufacturing when building prototypes.
    • Able to communicate clearly both verbally and non-verbally (e.g., email, memos, sketches, drawings) and explain work to his/her supervisor and others in the group. Can work effectively with peers.
    • Perform other related duties, as assigned, for the purpose of ensuring an efficient and effective work environment.
    • Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

    AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES

    • Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives.
    • Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
    • Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
    • Participate in Atec Continuous Improvement activities as appropriate.
    • Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
    • Cooperate with Auditors.
    • Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.

    EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelors Degree (B.S.) in Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university; or one (1) to four (4) years of proven experience in design and development of electrical/electronic components and systems with a registered engineering firm; or a combination of education and experience.
    • Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering Technology preferred.[KD1]

    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    • IEEE Membership is preferred.
    • Passed or preparing for EIT exam preferred.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS

    • Employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
    • Employee is regularly required to talk, hear, walk, stand, and sit and use hands with electrical equipment.

    WORK ENVIRONMENT

    • Employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts.
    • Employee is occasionally exposed to low- and high-voltages during design, testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
    • Noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
    • Extended work hours and/or travel may occasionally be required.
