Title: Electrical Engineer, Jr-Mid
Details:
FLSA: Full-Time, Regular Salary, Exempt
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 0900hrs – 1730hrs
Location: On-Site, Aberdeen, MD

Position Summary: The Electrical Engineer will play a critical role in designing cutting-edge tactical communication systems that empower the United States (U.S.) military, ensuring mission success through innovation, reliability, and compliance with military standards. This role offers the chance to work on advanced technologies, collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, and gain hands-on experience with military-grade systems and compliance standards. The Electrical Engineer leads the concept phase, design activities, reviews and reports the design’s progress with minimal supervision. Assignments are broad in nature, requiring initiative, originality, ingenuity and excellent problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have excellent analysis skills, advanced electrical engineering experience and a great understanding of power electronics and complex electrical designs.
Key Roles/Duties:
Take ownership of the electrical design for the project with very little supervision. This includes doing the complete electrical design, creating schematics, conducting layouts, Design for Manufacturing (DFM) with the Printed Circuit Board Assembly (PCBA) supplier, and Bill of Materials (BOM) generation.
Lead electrical hardware component selection/optimization for the design
Design and document robust hardware architecture and structure suitable for use in high reliability embedded applications
Take full accountability for electrical system design, from concept through production, ensuring quality, reliability, and adherence to military specifications
Construct prototypes (to include soldering, fitment, rework); evaluate and document their performance; identify possible improvements
Perform worst-case circuit analysis on paper and do circuit simulations.
Perform de-ratings for the entire electrical design
Provide necessary sustaining support to existing products and work in a cross-functional team environment to assure electrical system-level integration and design for manufacturability.
Conduct comprehensive Electrical Design Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (DFMEAs) to ensure designs exceed customer and regulatory requirements
Explore new and existing circuit designs and methods to solve design challenges
Maintain an awareness of customer requirements and complaints to identify areas that may need development or improvement.
Prepare technical reports
Prepare technical data packages for manufacturing
Establish a culture of learning, openness, and accountability
Perform any additional related duties as assigned
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in electrical engineering with more than four (4) years of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries
Must be able to perform electrical layouts as well as schematic capture
Must have a solid understanding of digital and analog circuitry. A strong understanding of Direct Current (DC) power electronics is required.
Familiarity with Military Standard (MIL-STD)-461, Electromagnetic Interference (EMI)/Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing
Experience with electrical Computer-Aided Design (CAD) modeling systems (i.e. Altium, Orcad) required
Strong quantitative, design, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
iMaster’s in electrical engineering with more than two (2) year of experience in electronics manufacturing in the consumer, telecom, automotive, and/or military industries
Department of Defense (DoD) experience
Altium experience
Travel:
Up to ten (10) percent (%) Continental United States (CONUS) travel
