Electrical Engineer — Power, Lighting & Building Systems Design

Location: San Francisco Bay Area, CA (On-Site Only)
    Industry: Building Systems Engineering
    Employment Type: Full-time
Salary Range: $85,000 – $130,000 base (plus potential commission, DOE)

Design electrical systems that make buildings work — efficiently, reliably, and creatively.

A full-service engineering firm is hiring an Electrical Engineer to lead power and lighting system design across commercial, industrial, high-tech, and mixed-use building types. The team works on everything from Fortune 500 campuses to small business sites — offering broad exposure, technical growth, and real leadership opportunities.

This is a fully on-site role based in the San Francisco Bay Area, with some travel to local job sites (mostly day trips). The firm values clarity, collaboration, and curiosity — and supports professional licensure, mentorship, and long-term development.

    What you’ll do:

    • Design and develop electrical systems: equipment selection, layout, specification, and construction documents

    • Perform electrical load calculations and engineering studies

    • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines to ensure seamless project integration

    • Manage project milestones and design quality, while mentoring junior team members

    • Lead or support small project teams within the electrical division

    • Prepare and present internal “lunch-and-learn” sessions

    • Stay current with applicable codes (e.g., NEC) and industry standards

    • Contribute to a collaborative design culture that values practical solutions and real-world insight

    What you bring:

    • 5+ years of experience with electrical systems design in an engineering consulting environment

    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering

    • Proven ability to lead small teams and manage design scopes

    • PE license preferred (or in progress)

    • Familiarity with Revit, AutoCAD, and NCEES registration

    • A grounded, practical approach to design — field experience and buildability mindset a plus

    Why this role:

    • Be part of a tight-knit, multidisciplinary team that values growth and mentorship

    • Design diverse, impactful projects instead of being siloed

    • Gain visibility and ownership in a growing, well-established firm

    • Competitive salary with bonus/commission potential tied to performance

    • Work in a firm that actively supports your licensure and long-term development

    Important:
Only candidates currently residing in — or actively relocating to — the San Francisco Bay Area will be considered. This is a fully on-site role. No remote or hybrid.
