Responsible for managing assigned CAPEX projects from preparation through start-up, with a strong emphasis on full EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) execution. This role requires a proven background in electrical engineering and PLC/automation systems within heavy industrial environments. Candidates must demonstrate successful leadership of large-scale, multi-disciplinary projects over $1M TIC and the ability to integrate electrical and controls expertise into overall project delivery.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead electrical and controls engineering activities during preparation phase to pass Conceptual Engineering and Project Definition gates.
Manage contractor bid process, RFIs, bid tabulations, and vendor/OEM technical reviews.
Monitor and report project costs and Total Installed Cost (TIC) performance.
Develop and manage integrated project schedules, including outage planning.
Coordinate with production and maintenance to integrate PLC/HMI systems into operations with minimal downtime.
Oversee field execution, troubleshooting, installation, testing, commissioning, and ramp-up phases for electrical and automation systems.
EPC & Electrical/Controls Leadership Focus:
Demonstrated experience managing capital projects with TIC > $1M from a full EPC perspective (not engineering-only).
Strong track record leading multi-discipline teams that include electrical, mechanical, civil, controls, and contractor personnel.
Ability to provide clear examples of electrical/controls project scope, TIC accountability, and project outcomes.
Expertise in PLC programming, HMI software, VFDs, power distribution systems, and automation integration.
Skilled in resolving complex construction and controls issues on-site while balancing engineering design intent with practical execution.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering (required).
3+ years in heavy industrial CAPEX project execution with strong electrical/controls focus.
Hands-on knowledge of PLC logic, HMI software, power distribution, and automation networks.
Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary projects >$1M TIC.
Familiarity with EPC processes (design, procurement, contracts, construction management, commissioning).
