    Adams, Inc. is a family owned, Wisconsin-based company, specializing in home comfort solutions by way of electrical contracting, plumbing, HVAC, solar, and home backup power. We have been in business since 1988, and currently have seven locations spread across Wisconsin, with one location in Illinois.

    We are seeking an Electrical Estimator to join our Commercial & Industrial (C&I) team in Middleton, WI. The C&I Electrical Estimator is responsible for developing accurate, competitive, and profitable estimates while building strong client relationships and supporting business growth. This role combines technical estimating expertise, sales awareness, and project coordination to ensure successful project acquisition and execution.

    The Estimator is accountable for evaluating project requirements, preparing complete bid packages, and supporting projects from initial pursuit through turnover to operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    Estimating & Preconstruction

    Review drawings, specifications, RFPs, and basis of design documents to determine full project scope

    Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and labor projections

    Solicit and evaluate vendor and subcontractor quotations

    Develop complete and accurate cost estimates using estimating software (e.g., Accubid, Conest)

    Identify scope gaps, risks, and value engineering opportunities

    Participate in bid strategy and margin discussions

    Prepare and assemble all bid deliverables and submission documents

    Sales & Client Engagement

    Conduct client meetings (virtual and in-person) to understand project needs

    Present proposals and clearly communicate scope, assumptions, and value

    Follow up on proposals and actively work to close opportunities

    Build and maintain long-term client relationships

    Identify and pursue new business opportunities

    Project Support & Execution

    Support project handoff to operations with clear scope definition

    Remain engaged through project lifecycle to ensure alignment with estimate

    Assist with change order pricing and scope review

    Coordinate with production and scheduling teams on project timelines

    Track awarded vs. estimated performance to improve future accuracy

    Business & Process Improvement

    Maintain up-to-date labor units and material pricing

    Contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools

    Support business development and marketing initiatives

    Ensure consistency and accuracy across all estimates

    Customer Experience

    Follow up with clients post-proposal (7, 30, 90, 365 days)

    Ensure customer satisfaction and identify repeat business opportunities

    Qualifications

    Education & Experience

    3+ years of electrical project estimating required

    5+ years of commercial & industrial electrical estimating preferred

    Experience in project management is strongly preferred

    Licensed electrician preferred but not required

    Proven track record of estimating success and/or sales performance

    Valid driver’s license

    Technical Skills

    Strong understanding of electrical systems, construction methods, and industry standards

    Proficiency in estimating software (Accubid, Conest, or similar)

    Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)

    Ability to interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents

    Physical Requirements

    Ability to sit, stand, and move throughout the workday Occasional lifting up to 20 lbs. Visual acuity for reviewing documents and drawings
