Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled licensed Electrical Foreman/Qualifier to join our dynamic team. In this leadership role, you will supervise the installation, servicing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of solar and energy storage systems, while guiding a team of technicians to ensure top-quality service. The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge of solar PV/ESS/energy efficiency systems, excellent problem-solving abilities, and strong leadership skills. You will play a key role in maintaining customer satisfaction and contributing to the growth of our solar energy services.
Key Responsibilities:
Work closely with Service Manager and Lead Service Technician to lead, train, and mentor a team of Solar Service Technicians to ensure code compliant, efficient, and safe installation, maintenance, and repair of solar photovoltaic (PV), energy storage (ESS), and efficiency systems.
Plan work scopes, assign tasks, manage jobsite execution, and coordinate with Service Manager and Lead Service Technician to maximize service scheduling.
Perform complex troubleshooting and repairs on residential and commercial solar systems, including inverters, wiring, batteries, and other associated components
Respond to corrective service calls, emergency repairs, and customer concerns in a timely manner.
Supervise and inspect service call outcomes, installations, uninstall/reinstall tickets, etc. to ensure they meet company standards and local AHJ building codes.
Collaborate with the Operations Team, Project Managers, Sales Consultants, and other team members to provide technical guidance and resolve issues.
Support permitting and inspections process, including reviewing and approving work scopes and electrical documentation, and participating in on-site inspections and responding to AHJ inspector feedback and correction notices as required.
Ensure proper documentation of service activities, including detailed service reports, parts usage, and system updates.
Monitor and track team performance, providing feedback and continuous improvement recommendations.
Create project specific BOM’s and assist with inventory management; ensuring necessary materials and tools are available for projects, and job packs are complete and accurate.
Lead the creation, development, and regular updating of SOPs for Sun Service Specialists Field Operations processes. Ensure that all procedures are accurate, compliant with company and industry standards.
Maintain organization/inventory of company tools and ensure company vehicles are clean and well kept.
Promote a safe working environment by enforcing safety protocols and ensuring team members follow all OSHA and Sun Service Specialists safety regulations and procedures.
Stay up to date with the latest solar technologies, industry trends, and regulatory changes.
Serve as the technical expert and the main point of contact for service technicians, addressing any service-related questions or concerns and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Valid Electrical license/credentials sufficient to act as an Electrical Qualifier in North and South Carolina, with strong understanding of AHJ expectations across all service territories.
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s degree or higher in a relevant field preferred.
At least 5 years of experience working with solar PV systems or in a related electrical/mechanical field, with a minimum of 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
Advanced knowledge of solar PV/ESS system design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance.
Strong understanding of electrical wiring, inverters, battery storage, and solar components.
Proven leadership skills with the ability to train and motivate a team of technicians.
Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with the capability to diagnose and resolve complex system issues.
Ability to read and interpret system schematics, electrical diagrams, and plansets.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with customers and team members.
Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Skills:
OSHA30 certification, NABCEP certification, or other relevant industry certifications preferred.
Experience with multiple OEM systems and components.
Knowledge of local and NEC codes and regulations related to solar/ESS installations.
Ability to work in challenging outdoor environments and lift heavy equipment.
Familiarity with software tools for system monitoring and diagnostics.
