Position Summary
- The Electrical Journeyman works in a team under supervision to execute projects primarily on new construction for commercial spaces on time while demonstrating the company's core values.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Journeyman license certification
- Possession of valid driver’s license with a good record of driving
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
- Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements

Knowledge and Skill Requirements:
- Knowledge of the National Electrical Code, OSHA guidelines, and safe work practices
- Possess effective verbal and written communication skills
- Strong mechanical aptitude
- Ability to distinguish between various electrical equipment and components
- Ability to follow instructions and work independently or within a team
- Ability to work on weekends, at night, or to work overtime as required
Trade Skills
- Install basic circuitry (color coding and numbering); installing feeder circuits (wire pulling); installing rigid and EMT conduit (3/4”-2” and above); installing motor control circuits; install control wires in panels; installing lighting protection; dissemble defective equipment, replace worn out parts and reassemble equipment; trace out short circuits in wiring; understand blueprints and control diagrams
- Possess a more detailed understanding of electrical construction methods & how to read blueprints; oversee, delegate to & monitor crew performance to meet project deadlines; analyze & resolve existing or anticipated obstacles to meet task objectives; articulate actual job status (work progress, time schedules & job cost) to the job foreman; match up the right person with the right task after assessing their job knowledge/experience; identify the needed materials, parts, tools, equipment & supplies for the next day; use of degrees when bending conduit concentric bending; understands material properties when working with concrete, wood, masonry, & metals; experienced with terminations & splicing voltage cable; add, subtract, divide & use electrical formulas accurately; give hand signals to operators; understand proper circuit/ grounding practices, transformer protection/ connections, insulating oils+ over current protection; understand parallel circuits, fuse/ circuit breakers, motor, inductance & capacitance power factors; knowledgeable of soil conditions on underground cables & raceways; understand security systems, alarm systems process controllers, control loops, a/c, and environmental controls; knowledgeable of mechanical systems that interact with electrical systems to provide safe operating systems; install substation equipment; install motor control centers and switchboards; install concrete pole bases; perform routine repairs to fuses, light sockets, bulbs & switches; inspect subcontractor performance to ensure it meets contract agreement & schedules; conduct closeouts, update punch lists, and complete record drawings
Essential Duties
- Install electrical equipment following applicable codes, manufacturer specifications, and company policies
- Provide necessary support to other team members to be able to complete tasks on time as instructed
- Create and maintain cordial and collaborative working relationships with co-workers
- Ensure all paperwork needed for each job is accurately filled
- Comfort with working from elevated platform mobile equipment
- Managing activities of the project at job sites
- Maintain maintenance records as required by company, city, state, and EPA regulations
- Assess a problem and provide a solution or communicate with the project foreman
- Installing electrical systems in new build, renovation projects, tenant finish, service, etc
- Operate a variety of hand and power tools and test equipment utilized in the trade
- Display professional company image
- Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions during all seasons
- Must be able to lift 70 lbs safely
- Must be able to climb, stoop, balance, crouch, crawl, or/and kneel continually
- Must be able to remain in a standing position 80% of the time
- Perform any other duty as directed
