Job Brief
Entry level Test Technician consisting of the ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and wire diagrams, basic concepts of electrical troubleshooting, understanding of electrical safety, interpretation of relay logic, and the ability to design simple tools to assist with validation of equipment. Technicians in this role are expected to learn and become capable of operating several different PLC(s), load programs, verify the operation of control circuits in accordance with a sequence of operation, and interpret and troubleshoot in accordance with schematics.
Responsibilities
- Schematic and Assembly Drawing Interpretation: Capable of reading schematics, mechanical assembly drawings, and sequence of operations.
- Ability to assemble in accordance with schematics and assembly drawings
- Testing and validation of equipment in accordance with schematics and drawings
- Assist in design resolution and improvements
- Verify operation of Electrical Circuits in accordance with wiring diagrams.
- Complete verification of products without power
- Troubleshoot electrical circuits with power utilizing defined safety practices
- Design and implement test equipment and programs supporting validation
- Generate Factory Test Reports including validation of units, findings, and corrective action.
- Communicate discoveries and/or potential concerns to test manager and engineers
- Customer Interface: Communicate and coordinate with customers during specification reviews and witness testing
- Develop product test plans in accordance with product and customer specifications
- Actively participate in production, test, and engineering improvement projects
- Field customer support questions and planning for site implementation
Requirements
- Associates degree or minimum of 5 years of work experience in industrial electronics or commercial wiring.
- Capability of operating controls systems and interpretation of Ladder Logic and PLC Programming
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret A. C. and D. C. schematics, plans, drawings, prints or similar job write-ups and how they apply to design or product.
- Demonstrated ability to use testing equipment including volt/ohm meters, power supplies, meggers, hypots, etc.
- Basic knowledge of programmable logic controls
- Basic computer literacy including Microsoft Office Applications
- Above average mechanical aptitude and ability to work with his or her hands.
- Must be willing to travel and work overtime as needed.
- General understanding of NEC and NFPA requirements
