    Job Description

    We are a structural manufacturing company seeking a Buyer that has a solid manufacturing background with steel sourcing knowledge to add to our team.      

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Reviews requests for assigned materials, parts and/or services and verifies specifications.
    • Source raw material, components or services and ensures timely preparation and communication of RFQ
    • Corresponds with approved suppliers to obtain price, specifications, and delivery information.
    • Analyzes and evaluates bids to determine optimum value.
    • Negotiates price and delivery; selects supplier and places purchase orders while assuring compliance to Operating Procedures and Ethical Code of Conduct
    • Expedites delivery of items by contacting suppliers and ensuring that materials, supplies, and equipment are sent on specified shipping date.
    • Ensures that a PO is created correctly (Supplier info, material, quantity, etc.) and follows up with issues related to PO creation.
    • Track purchase order status by reviewing daily activity reports and resolve any past due orders, invoicing errors, or interruptions in supply.
    • Works with operations and quality to establish product integrity, performance, and delivery measures to be used in evaluating supplier performance in assigned area.
    • Identifies cost savings opportunities and assists in developing innovative approaches to purchasing management to achieve yearly cost reduction targets set by executive team.
    • Provides resolution on material returns, over-shipments, cancellations, and engineering changes with suppliers.
    • Escalation of complex issues to Procurement Leader

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Minimum of 3 year of procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
    • ERP experience required (Peachtree/Sage or Misys experience preferred)
    • Experience with Microsoft Office – Excel / Word / Outlook
    • Proficient with packet buying.
    • Working knowledge of MRP, outside services, and fasteners

    ·         Read and understand blueprints/drawings.

    ·         Understand structural steel and hardware.

    • Solid judgement and strategic thinking, with ability to make good decisions.
    • Excellent communication
    • Capable of managing multiple priorities and projects at the same time in a fast-paced environment.
    • Strong people skills with the ability to negotiate and sustain networking relationships.
    • Mathematically inclined.
    • Supply chain workflow understanding. (Procurement, inventory, shipping / receiving, A/P and A/R)
